whatever finish glock puts on slide locks is gone the first time you holster it though.

Just at first glance that finish looks terribly similar to the Gen 3 finish which was about as grippable as a stick of warm butter.

Also I actually like the finger grooves.
>>
>>35018624
How is it? I really love my Gen 4 19. I'm torn between picking up another Glock 19 Gen 5 or going for a 17.

I'm probably an outlier but I actually like the finger grooves.

What I mean is, if you get a little bit of sweat on your hands then racking the slide of the gen 3 is fucking impossible, the gen 4s have a great sandpapery finish that Ive never had an issue with.

so how the gen5 finish?
>>
>>35018676
I haven't had that issue with mine. I put the OEM extended slide release on mine. The finish on it in the slide wears away, from where it catches, and I do use it as a release, but the face of mine is still pretty much perfect after 3 years. I do a hybrid holster with mine though, DESU I don't know if leather or kydex is harder on finishes.

The MOS is not a solid enough attachment, because of the plate in between the optic and the slide. You need to re-tighten the screws frequently to keep the RMR from flying off. Fuck all that.

That's my local gun store/range and they are fucking jews. I don't buy from them for this reason, but they do have a decent website that has their prices and that's why I linked. I try to buy local so that there are places to buy guns, but when they sell things for MSRP or higher because their only competition is Cabellas and Bass Pro, they can get fucked and I'll buy online and go to a garage FFL. Also, every time I go in they have like 4-5 working the counter and 3-4 or those people are grabassing and can't be bothered to help you, so maybe their prices could come down if they fired some faggots to bring their overhead down.
>>

Glock just looks at what people do to customize their Glocks and adds it to the design. The finger grooves came in because people would put shit like pachmayr grips on. Then people would dremel off the finger grooves so they took them away. All this time Glock couldn't figure out that it's just that the people that buy their guns are retards.

I have a g26, in a MTAC holster that gets carried probably 1/3 of the year, and shot about once a month. I have had it for like 3 years, and the face of my (oem extended) slide release is practically pristine. I'd expect the finish to get worn away after a while, but not in a gun that's only been publicly released for less than 24 hours.

>>
>>35023383
I fingered one, not shot.
The 17, it's a none issue because the grip is long enough.
The 19, it's right under the pinky and it was distracting feeling. It also takes away the lip on the bottom front of the grip that kind of helped a little to lock the hand into the grip.

It's fine on the 17 but a huge mistake on the 19.
>>
>>35023525
That's what it was looking like. I avoided Glock for the longest time because I'm a hipster, but got a g26 and was kind of pissed for what I was missing in the cheap polymer gun sector. I wanted to get the rest of the 9mm line over time. I might start with the gen5 17 and then get a gen 4 19, because the grooves don't really bother me. I might make that 19 into a tacticool RMR TiN barrel abortion.
>>
>>35020445
This is why glocks have never been, and never will be, suitable for self-defense or combat purposes. Ejection patterns have always been consistently shit. This was not rectified with the gen 4's (it actually got worse), and I doubt it will improve with the gen 5 series. Time will tell. In the meantime, 99% of glocks in circulation are good for nothing more than overpriced range toys.
>>
>>35022669
Likewise on this issue. If it's really THAT bad, there will be an aftermarket fix for it, no doubt. I will be getting at 17 at LEAST. Probably the rest of the 9mm and 10mm variants as they come out. Other than that. I will stick with the current gen 3's I have for the time being!
>>
I'll wait for the glock gen5 gen2.
You know, until they work out the problems like the gen4.

Then I'll probably get a 34 cut for an RMR

Are you crazy??? It raises the bar so fucking high, we already cannot see it it must be orbiting your anus.

This gen 5 Glock does absolutely nothing a gen 4 or gen 3 Glock didn't already do. Ambidextrous slide release? No one fucking cares. New finish? No one asked for it. Sniper barrel? Snake oil. Flared magazine well? Glocks were famous for their slim profile making them perfect for carry - the flared magazine well makes the gun print more, also it makes existing 3rd party mag wells (that are better) incompatible. More choice of sights from the factory? No one fucking cares. Everyone just wanted plain three dot metal sights. If people want better they'll buy third party tritium, fiberoptics or whatnot sights.

What people wanted was a real Picatinny rail instead of that shitty Glock accessory rail. They wanted metal sights. They wanted a trigger with less grit. They wanted an ambidextrous mag release. They wanted all that while keeping the Glock's slim shape.

$500+ polymer pistol with millions of units going into production and they couldn't chamfer a corner of a '5th' generation gun. If they overlooked some little piece like that what else did they overlook?

You'll probably respond with

>Glock literally demonstrated that they didn't cut corners tho, bruh.
>>
>>35028595
To me it looks like Glock had been tinkering with gen5 ideas, than had to cobble something together real quick to meet the FBI criteria. I was honestly surprised that the reveal was in fact gen5 and was basically the FBI guns. I figured the reveal was going to be the FBI guns, but I would have thought they would have just left them as model M. I do hope they do a gen 5.5 and work out the kinks like the lack of the nose of the frame matching the rounding of the front, getting rid of the fucking mag cutout on the 19 (wtf were they thinking), and whatever other issues get discovered over the next couple of months. All in all, I think the gen 5 was a pretty low effort attempt by Glock, and I like Glock.
>>
>>35028387
I've owned the following Glocks:

26, 19(x3), 17
27
36
29, 40

I've never had a problem with a Glock 19. However, the 36 was a jam-o-matic piece of shit that they even got sued over though they never admitted a problem like they should have. The Glock 17 had a 6 o'clock hold for some unknown reason. I got tight groups but all high and when I called them they basically said it was my fault. The 27 was fine after I put a pinky extender on it. Not a defect just a difficult to hold onto design using a 2 finger grip.

So anyway, point is, the Glocks have issues like any other brand (although still better than S&W's non-existent quality control).
>>
>>35028526

The people like you who need to go out of there way to nitpick anything and shit on them to try and make yourself feel better are the biggest faggots of all.

>and gave it a better trigger
proof needed
>>
Gen 4 was Glock perfection. I have no interest in a Gen 5.
>>
>>35030217
From all accounts, it's better if you shoot side by side next to a gen 4, but it's not world changing.
>>
Nah. I'm waiting for gen 10, when they finally fix the shitty trigger and ergos.
>>
>>35030229
What do you care? Other people like them.
>>

It's happened to me with a gen 3 19
>>

>They wanted metal sights.
that's an option now. trigger is supposedly improved too
>>
>>35028321
>What people wanted was a real Picatinny rail instead of that shitty Glock accessory rail.

No we fucking don't. That shit is ugly and serves no purpose over the glock rail. Everyone who makes attachments makes them for glocks.

>They wanted metal sights.

Wish granted. That's an option now. You can still get the plastic sights if you just want to replace them.

>They wanted a trigger with less grit.

Wish granted.

>They wanted an ambidextrous mag release.

Wish granted since gen 4.

>They wanted all that while keeping the Glock's slim shape.

Only real criticism. The flared magwell and cutouts are both retarded changes.

They're lighter weight and more compact than any guns of the same capacity (glock 43 and 42 excluded). This makes them ideal carry guns.

At my LGS the blue label price for a Gen5 19 with night sights is $455. Should I jump on it or wait?
>>
>>35032237
wait
>>
>>35032237
If you want those night sights, that's a good deal. If you plan on changing them, I'd pass and get the stock one for like $400.
>>
Is Glock owned buy Todd Howard?
>"Buy this rebranded, outdated, same main design again faggot. Do it faggot. Buy it you fucking idiot."
>>
I already have a G19 Gen 3 RTF, I think I'll wait a year or two and get a 17 after they release more stuff like extended slide locks and after market triggers

>live in austria
>home of Glock and their awesome guns
>gun laws so strict, 99.99% wont bother with trying to buy one
>even if you become someone who is allowed to buy one, you won't EVER get a carry permit and have to keep the gun locked away in a different spot than the ammo
>mfw

Fucking shit policies. The whole world gets to enjoy our guns while we are left out.

Bonus:
If you become a Police Officer in Austria, you aren't allowed to carry your gun outside of work

I went to the gun store and dry fired one.
That's as much proof as you're going to get from me.

If your citizens can't carry, I think it's a great thing that cops don't get special rules. You know, since they are still just citizens.
>>
>>35032825
You're going to have to revise all of that if Frau Merkel keeps sponsoring her own fucking barbarian migration through your front yard. You know that. Right?
>>
>>35030276
Nothing against people liking them. I'm making fun of Glock's refusal to innovate and marketing tiny improvements as a new generation. I'll stick with my stock LEO trade in Gen 2 G19 that I got for $300. $600 for a gun that doesn't have any real improvements over what I have already?

No thanks.
>>
>>35033002
Eh, Glocks really don't need to change all that much. They were mostly fine in gen 1. They've done the incremental improvements required, and at least made an attempt to keep up with trends. I don't think they are behind the curve in innovation. They are however, behind the curve in value. If Glock did nothing else but lower their MSRP by 10-20%, they'd be incredible.
