What are some small details that makes owning guns even better for you?

I personally enjoy loading magazines for some reason. Keeps my hands busy.
>>
I really like loading magazines, too
Especially .308
I also very much enjoy cleaning my rifle
Im quite thorough

Cosmoline. I never clean off the cosmoline

Spinning a revolver cylinder as a function check. It makes an almost unheard noise as it glides around the guide rod, but that noise is the best part.
>>
I too enjoy loading magazines. It's like a calm before a storm, and it gives me a chance to relax, breathe, and resituate myself if my shooting's off. Cleaning guns after shooting is fun, too. Again, it helps me decompress and forces me to slow down and relax a little.

Shooting guns is surprisingly peaceful when you factor in all the auxiliary stuff like that. I'm sure once I start reloading I'll enjoy that too.

Brushing my guns down with some oil and a cleaning cloth, just trying to make them look all nice and neat makes owning them even better. Also, i like to neatly arrange my ammo cans when i buy more ammo and need to move stuff around to fit it in.

Honestly, I love the feeling of ejecting those still warm .38s into my hand and putting them in my pocket, pulling out my speedloader and just spinning that cylinder before closing the crane. That half cock spin of the cylinder and the feeling of running cleaner swabs through the barrel.

I enjoy the comfort that I have an exit tool for this life should things ever get to the point that suicide is seriously considered. Weird I know but I've suffered a happy depression for almost a decade now, life is good, but not good enough to eliminate those bad thoughts. Honestly the only thing that keeps me going is my family, or rather the impact on them if something were to happen to me.

Ringing steel at 200+ yards (furthest range I've ever been on) 18/20 or 19/20 shots landing on target with ease. I really wanna get into some longer range shooting but where I live such a thing isn't really possible.

I rub spent casing to keep my hands busy. The brass smell rubs off onto my fingers and it's sorta invigorating.
Clicking scope turrets is fun.
I love polishing my guns' actions with a dremel and a cotton tip with polishing compound. Significantly lightening trigger pulls while making them buttery smooth is satisfying.
I like trying on different muzzle devices just for the aesthetics.

That last point gets me thinking, that's probably what our prehistory ancestors had for pleasure,(apart from sex and actually eating the meat) the knowledge that they had food to last them another few days after making a kill.

Before going to the range, i stroll from gun locker to gun locker, thinking which beauty made of wood and steel will be my companion for this day. Weighing the sights of an Irish contract no4 vs. the trigger on a finnish Sako M39. Or ist it going to be the Persian Mauser in all its mint condition shiny glory? Shall my shoulder be massaged by a Steyr M95 or a Radom M44 Nagant? Or is this going to be one of those days where I rub my unissued Springfield M1903 A1 with C-Stock under the nose of everyone at the Range? Uh oh, and I need some handgun for the rare occasion, that all rifle ranges are occupied. What is it going to be? A Magnum Revolver that delivers the firepower of an assult rifle out of its 6" bore, one of the manliest weapons ever made, a stainless S&W 686 TC de luxe? Or a simple Glock 17 that says law and order louder than Judge Dredd whenever it speaks? Decisions, decisions...
>>
>>35004634

I don't like to kill things but I like to see how things die and am addicted to terminal ballistics. I get excited when I see varmints or to legally hunt in general. If an animal is in a place where I can't check the body at least without someone seeing I will not kill it. I'm the type of guy who avoids hitting squirrels and turtles in the road but I'll waste them all day in private.

Cleaning and generally holding my guns brings me great comfort.

>to know every little internal detail and just the best way to take care of it
>feeling the softness of the wood stock after it aged
>the light smell of various oils mixed with old cordite smoke

I find deep personal irony in those that say it's bad to have a gun if depressed. If I am depressed, holding and cleaning a rifle is the greatest comfort I can have if I am truly alone for what I am going through

Slowing my breath, aiming down the sights, tunning out everything but the target, slowly pulling the trigger till BANG! and now the world returns.

The look of freshly polished brass right out of the tumbler. The difference that brass looks after being sized. The feel of a properly inserted primer. The sound that powder makes in your own handloads when you shake it.

Cleaning my shotgun
The sound of that last spent shell hitting the floor with finality.
Smoothly loading my shotgun with an almost graceful motion.
The smell of the chamber right after I finish my range session and clear my gun.
Shotgun is love. Shotgun is life.
>>
>>35004634
The sounds. The ratcheting, rolling, and rotating. The way all the things click into place in excited anticipation for the chain reaction you set in motion at your leisure. I don't know if it's a tism thing but there just seems to be some kind of magic that emanates from guns that I can't help but enjoy and appreciate. It's like how automechanics are in love with a finely tuned engine, I love these explosion powered instruments of war.

>>
I fuck around with snapcaps in my AR a lot and I've found that for some reason I really like the sound the make when they get ejected into my bathroom or closet and echo as they bounce around the floor.

It's autistic as fuck and I can't explain it but it makes me really want to visit a range with a shoot house, although I imagine with the amount of earpro you have to wear in those you'd never hear the casing hit the ground.
