Is giving someone a gun as a gift illegal. I live in Gators state

It should only be illegal if you knowingly gift it to someone who cannot lawfully possess a firearm, someone out of state, or in a way that makes them out to be "the actual purchaser" on a 4473.

Don't know about gator land but in NC you can gift guns. However when it comes to hand guns, the receiving party is supposed to have a concealed carry permit or a pistol purchase permit, but I'm pretty darn sure its not enforced and I can't see grandpa asking Johnny for a permit on Christmas morning

Why not just give them a black powder gun? Makes an interesting curio, is a lot of fun to shoot, doesn't cost that much, and makes a nice end-run around any legal concerns.
