>be me
>visiting family in bumfuck nowhere
>decide to check out local gun store
>ask to see new generation S&W M&P
>ride slide back slowly when working action to be respectful
>gun store owner grabs gun from hand
>" god damn it boy, you gotta work dem like this!"
>proceeds to violently pull slide back and led it slam forward with a horrible "kachunk" sound

I shudder to think some of the abuse these "brand new" guns have undergone before someone buys them
>>
>>34988694
You mean he operated it like normal?
>>
>>34988704

This.
>>
>>34988694
It's not fine china faggot.
No need to baby a firearm that is, by design, meant to handle an explosion every time it functions.
>>
>>34988704
>>34988727
Seriously this.
>>
>>34988694
But doesn't it do that every time you fire a round?

It's a hunk of tough metal that shoots projectiles powered by explosions. How fucking autistic are you?
>>
>>34988694
Actually, OP, have you ever even fired a gun?
>>
OP probably thinks dry firing causes the gun to explode too.

Have you literally never touched a firearm in your life before
>>
>>34988733

Actually, stripping a round from the mag and chambering it reduces the forward slide velocity.

>go to big gun store
>really big, lots of display cases
>feels like walmart with how busy it is
>ask to see pistol once one of the few employees shows up
>practice due safety, be respectful the whole time
>lock back slide and try the slide release
>"DON'T SLAM THE SLIDE HOME, MAN"
>look around
>fudds and retards with their kids all over the place pointing guns around, pulling the trigger without asking and flagging everyone
>no complaints
>leave and never come back
Am I in the wrong? Is it really so bad to release the slide on an empty chamber that the clerk needed to yell at me over it?
I've been to a bunch of gun stores and nobody's ever reacted to me like that before. Oftentimes the clerks use the slide release themselves when handling the guns.
>>
>>34988694
he thinks you're a limp-wristed candy ass faggot and he's not exactly wrong, is he
>>
>>34988751
Using the slide release as intended on the gun will cause irreversible damage to the gun.
Didn't you learn anything?!
>>
>>34988751
You weren't in the wrong. Unfortunately way too many people are retards who baby guns.

Maybe if you do it 10,000 times you'd need to replace the slide catch, but that's about it.

Unless it's made in Japan, then the metal just gets even more tempered.

This pasta was stale 20 years ago, but I actually kinda agree with it. I do make the distinction between dropping the slide to chamber a round and dropping the slide on an empty chamber. The sound is totally different and so are the forces involved.

Yeah, the gun can handle it, but my AK can handle being driven over with a car and I'm not about to do that either

Gun store owner corrected a city cuck. What's the problem little one?
>>
>>34988751

Motherfucker WORKING in the busiest gun store in my area told me that using the slide release on an empty gun (as opposed to babying the slide back to a closed position) was bad for an empty gun. I don't remember what reason he gave.

>>34988749

This is correct.

Do you niggas not read your manuals or what?

Stop making this thread you nigger
>>
>>34988704
You are supposed to let the slide slam forward when chambering a round, but if the pistol is empty, you should operate the slide with care. Do you even guns
>>
Stale thread aside, I try to be gentle handling firearms at the counter knowing I won't buy it.
>>
>>34988751
That can cause damage to a gun over time but the display models are expected to take a little abuse.
>>
>>34991117
I thought this was common sense?

>always let my guns slam into battery on brass or snap caps
>always granny the action forward on an empty chamber

It doesn't really take any additional time or effort either. Low hanging fruit for minimizing wear.
>>
>>34988804
Nippon slide metals folded 10000 times
Do you even lurk?
>>
>>34988694
Is this a pasta? Definitely seen this exact thread before. Neck yourself, OP.
>>
To unload my glock 17 i remove the mag then rack it 3 times before firing the action does this damage the pistol? Genuine question!

who cares about dropping on empty with an m&p?

just don't do it with hammer guns like 1911's, it can fuck up the sear

letting a gun slam on an empty chamber will damage them, even guns designed to do that, like an AK.

on older style (non-side-rivet bolt cam) AKs it smashes the angled part of the bullet guide, on modern AK design it fucks up the rivet, but you can smash that to reshape it (I think)

on a pistol it will just peen some surfaces, haven't looked into it but probably the locking cam somewhere
>>
I bet you retards think a car that has already been test driven three times and has 90 miles on it still counts as "new".

These retards think its still new after they've been driving it for 6 months
Also they voted Hillary
