What's the point in upgrading new tanks when the new ones are inferior to the Chinese exported tanks? It's a big waste of money. They should've just bought Chinese.

Also this new tank seems inferior to Arjun II and more expensive too. Only Russia is buying them to keep UVZ afloat.

anyone wanna take this one?

A lot of China's exports are T-72 derivatives. Their export mbt's don't seem that great, however the VT-5 seems like it might be a decent choice for countries that don't have defense requirements that dictate they obtain full weight mbt's.

I never served in the military so I can't consider myself a worthy contributor to this thread, but what that said; because even though conventional war may no longer be a frequent thing, its not obsolete and with the changing technological leaps in military equipment, it would make sense to upgrade older models of tanks into more decent ones.

China's only modern export is the Type 99, in which a T72 chassis and gun with an OEM turret.
>>
>>34986766
>T72 chassis
ask me how I know you have no idea what the fuck you're taking about.
>>
>>34986719
wait wait, and the T-90 ISN'T a T-72 derivative?
>>
>>34986681
nah man, I ain't touching this with a 10 ft pole
>>
>>34986783
The part where you pretend the hull on 99 before the 99A isn't a stretched T-72 hull.
>>
>>34986192
>No Shtora
>No Arena
>No Afghanit
>Only Syrian type metal bars to protect against RPG

Has Russia admitted that their APS is shit and only Syrian steel bars work?
>>
>>34986791
It is, that's why it probably isn't a great investment.
>>
>>34986987
>No Shtora

It's okay sweetums, the meanies on the internet won't make fun of you for not knowing what you are looking at.
>>
>>34986975

>>

>He doesn't even know what Shtora is

Kek. That's what you get for parroting reddit.

It has Shtora...
>>
>>34988944
That's not Shtora.
>>
>>34988957
Not Shtora per se, but it still retains all the sensors, which warn about the incoming ATGM, swing the turret in that direction and pop up smoke.

What's the point in making a thread if you're just going slam it with big "Chinese Shilling" stamp?

But whatever I guess. Even if (If!) your tanks aren't as good as the Chinese, making your own means you won't be reliant on the Chinese or anyone else to get more tanks, spares, and so on. If you buy Chinese, and then need a bunch more in a hurry, then you'll be in deep fucking shit if the Chinese don't want to sell you any more right then. If you want to stand on your own legs then keeping your domestic arms industry afloat is a big fucking thing.

You are asking why a bait thread started with a controversial statement.

The real question is why >>34986681 insisted on bumping the thread.
