Ironically enough I was in the CF and can only compare my experience with Infantry Officers but the old ones only give a fuck about getting the checks in the box and getting promoted and the young ones arent much better but they also just have no clue what is happening and treat most of the enlisted like garbage. Just dont be a shit bag and your troops will be fine with you and if your thinking of going something not infantry then it wont be as bad they seemed alright in other trades.

Also why didn't you enlist prior to university the CF would pay for your degree but i dont think they reimburse you if you already have on.

Kinda hard to take a 25 yo college kid with 2 ribbons and no experience seriously when you're also 25, have a stack of ribbons on your chest, a combat deployment or two, 3 or so years of service.

The biggest reason enlisted hate officers is cause they act like they're superior and smarter than us(which is laughable, cause they always have the easiest degrees and spit out false info all the damn time) and they think they have respect.

Advice to any officers. You have to give respect to get it back. And know your place when your dealing with more experienced individuals.

Theres a reason each officer gets a senior NCO attached to them (PSG, 1SG, etc.) NCOs will take care of you if you take care of them. Remember though that you are in charge and you're the final say. Let the NCOs do their job and for the love of God don't micromanage. I tell my NCOs what to do and they get that shit done. Some PLs (and my commander) like to micromanage and it pisses everyone off.

About anything and everything. The most common words spoken by enlisted men are "This is bullshit" followed by a long winded rant about absolutley nothing while doing the task asked of them.

Idk about POG units, but in the infantry, officers do not speak to enlisted men. All info is relayed through NCOs.
That being said, LT gets no respect because none has been earned. NCO started out as a private. Worked his way up. Has experience, and proven leadership. LT is fresh out of college. Most privates have more experience than him. He gets lost without the plugger, second guesses the NCOs, and is somehow "in charge" of the platoon.
Good NCOs will rarely trash talk an officer while enlisted are around, but the there is always clearly some animosity there..... veteran E6 taking orders from a fresh faced college kid that's been in the unit for 6 months.... and we all have to salute this asshat?

A platoon is about 40 and keep in mind that people forgetting where they left their rifles then finding it some time later is very rare. A rifle actually dissappearing, that I havent heard anything like that for years.
What separates an actual retard from just a average conscript being sleep-deprived and average dumb and forgetting which tree he left his rifle leaned against when he went to take a piss in the dead of night (and forgot to bring it with him), is that the retard reports it to the instructor _before_ getting his comrades to help him

When I was in the infantry, it was the same way and there was never any interaction with the officers. Occasionally, when there was some dumb shit going on the squad leader would say not to blame the psg and that it was the platoon leaders' or CO's fault. After reclassing, I work one on one with officers. They are just regular people for the most part with a lot more power. Most regular people are fucking retarded and women can be cunts. Add some power and shit can get retarded. You can't expect people not to criticize the really retarded shit.

It's better now from what I've heard, but in the 90s- 00s, coming out of the Cold War, most officers were just pieces of shit. Just fucking horrible, self indulgent, ignorant, evil motherfuckers. I think I served with and under maybe a handful of officers that I actually respect as people and as soldiers, with another two or three that were good soldiers but failures as men.
