What information could you guys give me to prepare for Ranger

Semi related question, why are non combat arms allowed to participate? Doesn't it cost money to send them there and feed/supply them while there? It's not like a mechanic with a ranger tab is going to mechanic better.
For that matter why do any of the schools allow fields other than their own to participate? Why does air assault exist at all?

I recently asked this same question to our battalion S3 and he told me it's to separate the great soldiers from the okay ones. Is a mechanic with a Ranger tab going to up the combat readiness of the other mechanics? No, but they sure as fuck will listen to him because he went out of his way to get that tab. 1 person can influence 10 and make the shop better.

This one I agree with because Pathfinder is 10x better and more applicable when thinking in terms of analog Army. We have the capability of launching a missile from the US to Russia with precision within an inch. Air Assault is just one of those schools to reward soldiers who try hard on PT.
