Could someone tell where this round came from my dad found it in a motor home the primer has been hit but it seems to still be live it looks to have lead ball bullet not sure what sort of gun could even shoot something like this with the oversized bullet and protruding rim (pic related)

Looks like a reloader was having a giggle m8.

More pictures for scale and such

most likely this, burnsides never took off
>>34963184
This. The primer is hit because it never got a new primer in the first place

I was thinking the same thing dont have any calipers to measure whay gauge it is bit it looks like a .45 auto bullet stuffed into some odd rimmed cartrige
>>34963153
i've seen similar things on the internet. i think it's just a reloader's wildcat joke. kinda like a jackalope for hunters.
.45 short
you get the stopping powah of 45 and the ammo capacity of 9mm
What would the chamber look like?
>>34963444
The only thing i could think of would be some sort of trapdoor pistor or carbine lol
>>34963444

What if it's a Hi Low system and doesn't need a strongly supporting chamber?
I'm now super fucking curious how this could work. I know it's a joke cartridge that no gun would ever be chambered in. I don't care.
This is what i was thinking of im no engineer or artist but this is what i was thinking some sort of trapdoor pistol

probably something like this
cartridges like that only works without the rim, its just a reloader joke.
however. for a modern gun using a similar rimless cartridge, you could have the chamber in the bolt, and have it work like modern autocannons, firing while the bolt is traveling forwards in the tube. allowing you to have a blowback operated lightweight firearm, that fires oversized bullets

how big were those bullets?
>>34963804
As i sais i dont have a pair of calipers to measure them but they were somewhere inbeetween .45 auto and .44 magnum

*said

>>34963804
burnsides were .54 cal
>>34963153
where do you live op?
>>34963444
Would have to be a two piece chamber to support the skinny powder end or at the least it would expand every cartridge fired and at the worst catastrophic boom
It is an interesting bullet though
