my dad bought one
accurate as you'd expect (good, but not match good), recoil is mild, mags are expensive, bipod is actually useful
the rifle ends up really front heavy compared to a normal Garand, not handled enough M14s to compare it to that

a lot of Garand parts drop in, including, to my understanding, gas plugs
not tried that yet since my dad and I got a damn good deal on some Hirtenberger 7.62 RFN that shoots great

as far as reliability, my dad's does have a problem where it rips rims off of cases that we haven't tried to diagnose yet
could be overgassed (don't think so with how mild the recoil is and otherwise normal ejection) or it might have a burr in the chamber
the rifle is just too fucking cool though
so weird and European and American and NATO all at once

plus, the BM59 really isn't an M14

it's a Garand
only place besides JRA to get a BM59 is to have Shuff's Parkerizing build one from a parts kit for you with a donor M1 receiver

JRA is casting new receivers
probably not quite as good as a forged M1 receiver, but a good M1 receiver isn't being cut up for the builds at least
