The whole attacking group died for one carrier and as you should know the Americans would easily replace that. They were also fucking late at doing it since nuking happened so I don't see how it was much of a victory for the dead guys.

Because the G4M was easy prey for Hellcats and Corsairs, it meant most of the bombers were taken down well before they reached any larger American formations. The few Ohkas that actually were launched were against picket destroyers of destroyer escorts, for which they sometimes didn't even explode because the hull was too thin to detonate the warhead.
Had there been a better launching platform then maybe some Ohkas would have been able to hit vital ships like troop transports and carriers. The roughly 3,000lb warhead would have really messed those ships up.

Also, the Ohkas glided most of their flight. They were released, dove to build up some speed, and then once they saw a target they would ignite the rockets.
