Can someone please tell me what gun this is
My grandmother wanted to get rid of my grandfathers WW2 memorabilia so i happily took it off her hands.
The rifle seems old but my grandfather was a hunter so i have doubts this was his service rifle.
I also can barley read a serial number but besides that is has no other manufacturer markings on it.
Grand dad was a royal Canadian engineer if that helps at all.
Sporterized Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1.

Fuck quick response thanks guys. I take it this was a fairly popular hunting rifle?

It's a military rifle that was commonly sold cheaply as surplus and lots of people modified them into improvised hunting rifles.

Still is in some circles, prolly more so in Cannuckelstan.

Also it looks like yours is missing it's box magazine. There's usually one that holds 10 rounds. It's possible to find an original, though I don't know how common that is in Canada since IIRC you guys are limited to 5 rounds only. I do know they make aftermarket commercial shortened hunting magazines that hold 5 shots.
They are pretty expensive typically. As a rule, magazines for the SMLE aren't meant to be removed for reloading. Only cleaning. They didn't originally make or issue spares.

You find that funny?

5 rounds only applies to semi-automatic rim fire rifles, I think. Bolt action and 22 rim fire are fine.
