How did bongs get away with it? I mean, the SAS myth was created and all but it seems a major shitshow, by the time they got in hostages could already be dead. There's this new film, 6 days, which is kinda cool but unfortunately has low british quality level.

I don't understand the question. Are you saying how were they successful, or how did they spin it as a success?
There are several good accounts of the event but the best one is in Ken Connor's book. It details a lot of the training and direction that was taken under Peter de la Billière, particularly the close protection and hostage situation courses.

Bongs are second only to Canadians on the massive faggot scale. They're awful shit people.
When's that film out?

>but it seems a major shitshow
How so? The only notable fuckup that stands out is that islander that fucked his rope work, which didn't really have an effect on the operation.

>Operation is massive succes
>Media reports succes
>ITS A MYTH, HOW CAN THIS BE A SUCCES????!!! THINGS COULD HAVE GONE WRONG!!!!!
Things did not go wrong. That is what succes means...
Eagle Claw is a much better example for how shit can go wrong but still are flipped like they where a big succes. Or Red Wings. Or Anaconda. Or Gothic Serpent. Or Urgent Fury.

>Or Red Wings. Or Anaconda. Or Gothic Serpent. Or Urgent Fury.

Oh, ok
I guess I'll watch it then. Even if it is low budget I like a good British army film.

>Nation performs many more operations than any other nation on earth.
>Has more disasters

Just because a tactic worked, does not mean it was a good tactic

Hostages are a means to an end, when the entry team comes in there is a possibility they will make good on their threats and start executing hostages and I can think of at least one case where that happened but I think it's far more likely that the hostage takers will concentrate on the immediate threat posed by the entry team.
It's a hoax
I just watched the film. Why the fuck do they over dramatise everything? Everyone who wants to see something like this wants a 1:1 reconstruction of what happened, especially during the siege.
