Even if the Norks do finally chimp out fully it's not even close to a WW3 level event, the only reason they're taken at all half seriously is that Seoul happens to be close enough to get fucked up in the opening hours of a conflict, they aren't even a regional power let alone one that can create a global conflict.

China is getting more and more fed up with their shit, they want a moderately mad dog that barks to make people jumpy, not a rabid one that bites. They have no interest starting a war they know they'll lose with the US for the sake of North Korea. Sure they'll help them on the quiet side for however long it's viable to do so, but not to the extent of open war with the South or the US. Instead they'll be aiming to maintain partition of Korea to avoid having a US-aligned neighbour right on their doorstep there, and it's unlikely South Korea would actually be too unhappy just ending up with a slightly less deranged/self destructive new northern counterpart, compared to the financial and social cost of reunifying at this stage.

Beyond China and the US nobody else in the world really gives much of a fuck about Korea, certainly not enough to get directly involved. At most the Russians would also quietly send some gear if the Norks wanted it, simply for the sake of pissing in America's soda a little wherever they can, but that's as far as it would go.

I was talking about the North there, who are not remotely a major global economic factor.

Yes the South would get fucked up and it would have a negative impact on the global economy for several years, but they both have the economic strength to recover, and would have all the help they might want from the rest of the world to help them do so, precisely because they're an important manufacturing base. A scenario where the South ends up in a full economic collapse that in turn creates a global downturn severe enough to fuel wider conflict on a WW3 scale is just about feasible but lies in the lower reaches of probability.
