I like mine. For the price it's a very well made gun. Though you'll want to find some thicker aftermarket grips if you plan on shooting it a lot. The snap can be quite a bitch even for experienced shooters.

The P-64 is not a Makarov, it just fires the same caliber (9x18).

Whether it's a good gun depends on who you ask. Most seem to agree that the DA trigger is horrible.

P64 is a great pistol, WELL worth the money, just make sure to get a wolf spring kit to replace the horrible double action trigger spring.

That's a screaming deal. They're $200-$250 pistols. Go get it. I like mine, it's pretty snappy but the trigger is nice and it's accurate.

The only didference I can actually find is the half inch size difference between a p64 and a german/soviet one.

It's a Walther PP clone, the Makarov is also a Walther PP clone, however the P64 is much closer in aesthetics and function to the Walther.

because one is called a p64, and the other is called a makarov. Just wikipedia p64 and nowhere does it call it a makarov

Only reason people mistakenly call it a polish makarov is because early import marks on the handguns said in huge ass lettering, MAKAROV 9MM, which denotes the caliber in order to not confuse what rounds youre using.

These threads come up pretty often. I Have a P-64 and I think it sucks. It murders the web on my hand, it kicks like a mule, and it's plain not fun to shoot. It's not drop safe so you'd be retarded to carry it.

But $120 is a really decent price.

Ive been wondering about the dropsafe aspect for a couple days now.
How many other guns out there have a dropsafe in them?

And From what I read, they have decockers. So maybe you can decock it while chambered, then single action it if you ever need to whip it out.

Maybe ill just take out out on fancy occasions and wear it with a tux.

Niether. It shares few features from both, but has few propriety.

Honestly I think im gonna hold off on this.More and more readings confirm that this pistol has no dropsafe, and the safety doesnt even prevent the hammer from striking the primer, but stops the pin from moving.

Seems a bit sketchy to ever have it concealed with one in the chamber

The P-64 is subjectively better looking than a proper Makarov, but objectively less fun to shoot. Add to that it holds two fewer rounds, and will likely need new springs.

If you've got a collection going, it's not a bad addition for that price, but if you need an EDC to bet your life on, there's much better to be had out there.
