Is it accurate radio chatter, /k/?

Lot of attention to detail for an arcade shooter

It sounds like someone stripped it off of SCP during an "incident". Bit too much break up.

Modern radios are more clear.

Shadow company is so fucking cool

I want to hear a 9line medevac request
>>
>>34918040

Could it be that that much break up is used because Russians have always been big on EW. While actual jamming can be very hard, ground jammer stations can relatively easily send noise to wide areas of bandwidth while saving certain signal ranges to friendly forces.

Also, current conflicts (like those in the vids) have opposing forces without any significant EW capability.
>>
>>34918040
That video isn't recorded with an encryption device, it's a cockpit recording device that grabs the audio before it gets scrambled and encrypted, which does compress it into an unpleasant 12 kb/s limewire distorted mess.

>request broken arrow
Uhh, broken arrow means lost/contamination of a nuke right?
>>
>>34918262
It can but in this context it means a unit has been overrun and calls in air support to fuck shit.
>>
>>34918262
They're doing a shout out to the movie We Were Soldiers, where "Broken Arrow" is an authenticated request for fire support directly on top of an overrun friendly position.

Having a procedure word like that for normal use is retarded, in reality they'd just make it explicitly clear that they want it danger close fire directly on top of their position after all is lost.
>>
>>34918262
Broken arrow I believe is an unintended detonation of nuclear arms.

Empty quiver is a missing nuke

oh in video game logic.

You dont count the millions of times that scenario has ended up with those Americans 1776ing the bongs thanks to bad player choices and retries.

I really liked MW2, and for me it'll stand out as the most memorable game in the series, closely followed by MW1 and Black Ops.
I know people make/used to make a big fuss about it and say MW1 was oh so much better, but MW2 had hours and hours of online play fun, and wasn't as grimdark and more varied than MW1, even though MW1 had tons of fun in it. I just wish it had stuck more to high speed stuff rather than the more conventional parts in the Middle East part of the campaign and the parts where you support the loyalists.
Blops 1 also had TONS of potential, and I only wish the other Blops games had stuck to the cold war theme instead of spiraling off into whatever space age mumbo jumbo there is now (I don't know, I borrowed Blops 2 from a friend and gave up after finishing it). WaW was OK, I guess. A bit unappreciated for what it was, I guess.

Broken Arrow is basically a code used for an overrun or near-peer unit to task all available air and (in some cases) artillery assets to support said overrun units

It was used in the battle of La Drang which brought 740 separate sorties and 96sorties from B-52s; it's important to note though that La France went from being a low-strength airborne brigade (1,000 men) against a smaller force (assumed) to said brigade against two full regiments (33rd and 66th PLAV regiments consisting of 1/22 & 3/33; 1/66, 2/66 & 3/66) numbering 2,200-3,000 men.

Arrow, spear, sword are only relevant to the specific incedent type regarding nukes not the weapon itself ie Bent Spear means a transportation issue/protocol violation such as the issue with the bomber transporting actual nukes in launch configuration a few years ago.

I don't think we have thermobaric laws, the closest thing I can think of is the NE rockets for a SMAW. Though I have to give em major points for not saying over and out. Think the first was just a SALUTE report in everything but name which was odd

Not in inventory afaik, but they're the same rocket as the m202, so in theory it could be done no sweat.

What freqs do modern militarys use? What's the average comms kit look like for a fireteam or squadron?
>>
>>34926208
That would be a priority when requesting support.

PRAIRIE FIRE was the codename of the MACV-SOG recon operation in Laos. Identifying yourself as a green beret unit needing evacuation from a country that isn't Vietnam would be used to elevate the priority of a medevac or casevac request.

Yes, it's very fun.
>>
>>34928076
Utterly pointless, twice the price of base MW and only adds lootcrates. MW was the last PC focused CoD, so of all the modern titles it is the one that benefits from remastered graphics the least. The new models look nice, but the campaign loses a lot of its grit when everything looks so clean.

>>
>>34928180
PSN has the remaster as a standalone for like $40.
>>
>>34926121
Why not? I thought the single player was pretty enjoyable. It left behind the notion of being realistic and went full action movie, it was great.

>>34918005
I wouldn't say it's terribly inaccurate. They added in some static to make it sound more "realistic." As far as the actual chatter goes, there's nothing glaringly wrong, The only other note I have is that all that chatter would realistically be divided across several different channels.
>>
>>34928253
>It left behind the notion of being realistic and went full action movie, it was great.
I'm pretty sure they had already done that by MW2 when you did a James Bond style snowmobile escape by jumping across a ravine with a trillion angry mooks racing after you.
>>
>>34928253
MW3 marked the beginning of the modern trend of CoD maps being extremely cluttered and tight maps with short sight lines to try to discourage camping
The maps up to MW2 had a certain flow to them where a sort of front line would build up. MW3 and beyond its just nothing but people spawning behind each other
>>
>>34922532

i remember this was posted in /v/ once and all the russians were on their asses laughing about it because they said the dialogue was overdramatic, the words were silly as fuck and the accents were central asian hick.
>>
>>34929320
Yes indeed, half of the voices have Central Asian accent and are only partially decipherable. Some of the lines are outright weird, e.g. 0:48's "These aren't condoms. Where is the condom?", some apparently being a result of a direct machine translation ("I've been punched!"). Most of them kind of sound authentic even if a overexcited but the aforementioned Asian voices saying ridiculous things have transcended into the meme realm of Russian part of the Battlefield community. Afaik, the Russian version of the game still has the same voices for RuAF, yet the US side has been translated locally, so the Americans speak better Russian, which probably adds to the absurdity.

MW3 is where the descent started.
MW2 and black ops 1 might not have been *great*, but at least they were a unique take on the franchise with their own art style and approach to multiplayer, and even singleplayer.

MW3 was quite literally just an expansion pack for MW2. That was the tipping point in the iceberg where Activision realized they never needed to put an ounce of thought or effort into their games ever again.
Some of the games past MW3 were decent like BLOPS2 and even advanced warfare but 3 still started the inevitable degeneration.
>>
>>34931527
Hes right, the thermal filter totally dehumanises them, they're just monochrome blobs. They're as sympathetic as those violent pivot stickfigure animations people used to make in highschool.

Just imagine them talking with Jamaican or Nigerian accent. Here are some samples of what they should be saying: "Ah, thanks, dear!", "Oh, fuck, mates, do we have some air reinforcement available? They've taken our jet's" (2:08), "Attention! The explosives are about to happen!" (2:27) , "Oh! ...What was that?" (2:32) "Ow-ow-ow, almost got killed! Oh fuck, so close!" (2:37), "Hey, what the fuck are you doing, it's us your mates, our mates" (3:09), "Oh, mommy, they killed (inaudible) me" (5:36) "Oh, mommy, I can't move anything, they've paralysised me" (5:45) etc. All the mistakes were intentional and as close to the ones they've made as possible for the most authentic experience. Still, I dig the job the other voice actors had made, lots of colorful expressions and emotions there.
