First of all, you don't mount the scope to the stock.

You can buy a long-eye-relief scope mount that replaces the rear sight leaf.

Also get a proper 1891 bayonet.

Or you know just sell it to someone who wont bubba it and use that money to get a Ruger M70

Why would you encourage him? He obviously can't afford another rifle that can mount a scope. What makes you think he has the tools to install it without buggering up the sight base?
