Legitimately curious. What makes HK stand out as better than another pistol like Glock, Sig or Ruger. Not trying to start shit but legitimately curious.

Is it barrel lockup? Is it the type of polymer? The trigger installed from the factory? What exactly makes them superior?

In my personal opinion they make the best handguns. I'll always prefer hammer fired to striker, and I like polymer frames alright. I'm also a fan of how many of the pistols are great suppressor hosts straight from the factory. I appreciate the testing that they put their firearms through before they leave the factory (I'm not a vp9 fan btw). I also feel that LEM is superior to striker fired for civilian carry and police applications. I do believe HKs greatest period was in the mid to early 90s.

OP here, the ones from autoweapons and London Bridge Trading have me interested. The flap on the bottom even opens so you can holster it suppressed, it will also fit a pistol with a rail adapter and DBAL or a LAM.

I've never had the magazine release snag on anything. Holsters for my other guns with Browning style push button releases also tend to leave them exposed or partially exposed. No problems.

The tactical would fit between USP and expert yeah. Though that USP pictured has been converted into a sorta tactical. I installed a threaded barrel, match trigger, and night sights. I'm also missing the USP elite and match. Don't think I'll get those though.

You can install all the match parts on a regular production gun. Aftermarket extended barrel, third party match weight clone, etc. The actual Match gun has some nice fitting, an accuracy guarantee, and a fancy case. The Expert, Elite, and match are all low production guns with the match being the rarest. Sort of a prestige ownership thing I guess. I'd personally rather find a P9S Sport group III.

What's putting me off from getting an Expert over a default USP with a match trigger is the looks. The regular USP has classic and very cool look, but the Expert's extended barrel ruins it. If I can't feel like a 90s operator in a video game or Gordon Freeman going through Metrocops with a USP, then fuck that.

GG&G adapter is nice. As classic and retro as the UTL is, a more modern light is a lot more compact and cleaner looking. LEM, especially light LEM is very nice too. I used it for a while but came to like match da/sa a little better.

I rented an HK45 today, it was very aesthetic and you could tell it was high quality but it had a lot of muzzle flip, an overly heavy da trigger and an incredibly stiff safety. Also the trigger trough is fucking annoying. The safety and recoil I'm comparing with a 1911 and the da trigger with a beretta. Overall a very shitty experience.

I feel HKs real expertise is in hammer fired guns, I'm not really a striker fired fan myself. I've fired my friend's PPQ (paddle, not button) and liked it, I still prefer my P30 though, especially for carry. I feel that having a gun with the trigger pull as close as you can get to a 1911 as you can get, but without a manual safety isn't a smart gun for anything other than range use. One small accident when holstering the gun could result in something terrible. Having the ability to put my thumb over the hammer when holstering feels like added security. This next part isn't aimed at you, but anyone who carries a striker fired gun with no safety and says they don't carry double action because of the trigger pull needs to practice either shooting with a double action handgun more or drawing and taking the safety off of a suitable striker fired gun.

H&K, S&W, Beretta, Walther, Sig, CZ, etc are all jumping on the plastic striker pistol train now. The only problem with this is that aside from lowering the price, nobody can offer anything that's really all that much better than glocks, which set the standard for this sort of thing.
The only thing they really offer is a marginally better trigger sometimes, marginally better ergos sometimes, different grip textures and serrations, somewhat different controls, etc.. They're just trying to put their own contender for a popular niche in the market, even if it's half-assed or otherwise unremarkable.

I've got a question for the HK community.

HK lists the USP9C at 1.4" in width, and the USP9 full sized at 1.3".

Is this a mistake? Is the compact version actually a bit fatter?

If it is fatter, the full sized seems like the way to go.

Having shot one right after shooting the CZ P10, I can say that both are really nice, and despite the bore axis the PPQ is really smooth. The P10 was a bit snappier, actually(although they were both rental guns, so I can't say what condition they were in mechanically).

As far as HK options go I'd suggest a P30sk or P2000sk, I'm a huge fan of light LEM too. Outside of HK I like the Daewoo DP51 a lot, FNS9c with a safety, some like the Smith M&P series guns, but those always felt junky in my hands, still decent guns though.
