From what I hear the Type-97 is hit or miss in terms of reliability, some of them work flawlessly, some dont work at all. Norinco is spread across 150 different factories with various levels of quality control.

Chinese anything is hit or miss. Obviously fit and finish not the best. But for functionality, it either is flawless or trash.

T97s are eghggg when they don't work, but they're MORE VALUE THAN A TAVOR when they do.

Wonder how that Chinese sks upgrade is gonna be t81.

The thing about Chinese guns is that even if you get a lemon they usually fit 'legitimate' parts and so even after repairs they're better value than the equivalent anyone else. The exception is even the steel is of poor quality. Like I saw a 305 with bubbly metal on the receiver and that implies shit porous steel.

It depends on the model. Norinco's semi auto M14 clones are great, and still a good deal even if you plan to buy it just for the forged reciever and replace everything else. The Type 97 is hit or miss, IMO mainly because of the magwell often being out of spec, causing all kinds of issues. And their shotguns are widely considered to be garbage. Every design of firearm is probably made at a different factory because Norinco is a huge conglomerate.
