What is the most A E S T H E T I C Soviet military aircraft in existence?
I fucking LOVE the Yak-141, it;s a shame that they never entered production. Why couldn't we have won the Cold War a year later???

The MiG-29 has a terrible A2A combat record, but its got some great curves at least

This, to be perfectly honest
I like the double cockpits
>>34885060
To be fair, the Russians/Soviets sold their shit to shit tier middle eastern/african nations and their untrained pilots got shit on by NATO aircraft.
Its like blaming glock that the baby armed with a g17 lost to a grown man with a baseball bat.
This has to fit in.
All coax Kamovs
Fuck off outta here, planelets
THRUST VECTORING

That is not a Soviet era plane.
Same goes for >>34887053 & >>34887057
>>34884407
the competition is fierce but in the end the victor is clear as day.
>>34886841
this, the Ka-25/27 look so ungainly but are simultaneously super sexy. You can say the same for all Soviet helicopters, really.
>>34885543
I wouldn't say the difference between Soviet and NATO planes is equivalent to a Glock and a ball bat.
The foxbat makes me wet

This man is correct.

It's A2G record is ok.
And no, that wasn't a pun about their crashes, I mean them shooting up hadji in Syria and Chechnya.
>>34889670
>so aesthetic the russians routinely tour them near other countries so as to demonstrate a common ground of visual excellence

Yeah.
Baby with Tokarev TT-30 vs adult American with M1911 is a more apt comparison.

Over wing forward engines always make me happy.
They're an excellent design choice if you're willing to have the extra cost associated with the titanium needed for the wing top skin behind the engine.
That extra lift.
That lower stall airspeed.
That ground clearance.
Looked bad ass, I actually got to talk to an old german ww 2 ace. He didn't think that much of any soviet plane really (loved the mustang though, shot 2 of them down) Horst petzschler . Met him at an airshow.
I'd argue the MiG-27 is better but I don't have any good pictures of the -27. I suppose the MiG-23 will have to do for now.
I really like Su-22. It looks like straight forward war machine. Still remember like I saw them on air show in 90s.
Too bad my country get rid of them. But I think poles still have them flying.
>>34885543
Not true, the Soviets were pissed Egyptian Soviet planes were losing to Israelis so the USSR started piloting the planes against Israel themselves and they still lost.

No MiG-21?
B-17 with Allison engines.

Rare modernised polish Su-22
>>34892116
My personal favorite.
Seeing as how most of my choices are already ITT, I'll contribute an underloved one (Though it's underloved for good reason - it's a dog to handle).
No love for "dude jets lmao"?
>>34893426
>not posting the one that was actually a good plane
>>34885060
does this include all the disputed Mig 29's shotdown and disputed things shot down by MIgs? If russia would actually admit to some of the shit they shot down their record might be better.
Su-15 was sexxxxxy

how do you explain this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_battle_of_Mansoura
>>34894344
Its fucking huge.

>>34892116
I wonder what speed the MiG-21 could reach if the Tumansky R-25-300 (68.5kN thrust w/AfB) engine was removed and you shoe horned a F135-PW-100 (190kN w/AfB) into it.
They're the same diameter and the -100 is only 40in longer (easy to frame and shroud in).
>>34894315
Like Korean Air Lines?
>>34892116
I prefer the "2nd-gen" MiG-21, like the -PFM
It has a nice tapered dorsal spine, but not an atrocious humpback like the MiG-21bis.
I like the older A-4 Skyhawk better than the later humpback-models for the same reason.

It was a Sukhoi
