Wash your hands after you're done shooting. Lead will deposit on your hands while firing and it's not good to eat it. It's a good rule in life to wash your hands before you eat and to just wash your hands often in general.

It's mostly carbon and sulphur. Powder isn't going to hurt you. It's lead that fucks your shit up, but thankfully that isn't as easily absorbed into your body. The only way you're going to get significant amounts of lead into your body is if you routinely suck on your barrel. To put it into perspective, you consume more heavy metal by eating salmon or tuna than you would from a trip to an indoor shooting range.

I'm sure there are plenty of scientific studies stating that 25% of people would fail driving a right hand drive manual vehicle with one eye covered and a cat in the back seat, but the point is that every population with every task will have an equal portion of people who excel and people who fail, while the middle ground will be competent enough to pass.
