Hey /k/, I am about to get my CWP this weekend, and I am planning on buying a shoulder holster, as I wear a jacket a lot. I was thinking of either the Galco jackass, galco miami classic, or galco VHS. I like the classic and jackass, but the muzzle would kind of sweep everyone behind me, whereas the VHS is a vertical holster. What would you all recommend?

>the muzzle would kind of sweep everyone behind me

If you have a tendency to fire your gun while it's still in the holster, you probably shouldn't carry one.
>>
>>34875236
>What would you all recommend?
Not getting a shoulder holster because they're meme tier holsters that are good for very little.

Getting either IWB or AIWB, you're not Max Payne, life isn't Miami Vice. You're pondering on carrying your gun to save your life or someone else's life from a violent attacker. Save the cosplaying for some other time.

shoulder holsters are great if you can afford to print. comfy as fuck if adjusted correctly. no better holster to draw from a sitting position.
>>
>>34875811
Shoulder holsters are perfect for people who sit most of the day. I used one when I drove all day for my old job. I still use it as my house carry because of comfort.
>>
>>34875801
>>34875811
Doesn't really answer my question, but I appreciate the advice
>>
>>34875236
I bought the Galco Miami Classic to carry on my motorcycle but didnt think far enough ahead to buy the extra belt straps. I don't wear it anymore A: because its summer and B: it kept slamming into my bikes tank and I didn't want to damage muh bike.
>>
Semi related question: which holster is the best for people who are somewhat physically active? Type running a bit to and fro, climbing over stuff, occasionally crawling under things? I'm a manager/mechanic for a place where the nature of work is manual and unskilled, which is to say my job is babysitting a bunch of grown ass dipshits who break everything, all the time, at the least beneficial times humanely possible. I also bicycle to get to and fro work.
Not having a CWP yet, I've my doubts about an IWB holster, as it seems like it'd skip around a lot. Or...?

since when are shoulder holsters hated so much

you fags and your high speed low drag shit need to fuck off
>>
>>34875865
Not OP but this is the main reason i'm looking at shoulder holsters.
i work a desk job and carrying iwb is suffering after a few hours. Is the loss of "efficiency" with a shoulder holster really so bad or is it just good old fashioned blowing things out of proportion?
>>
Honestly, it's probably easier to draw from a well practice shoulder holster than IWB from the hands up position. Also they are stylish as fuck.
>>
>>34875811
But I already ordered my white suit and powder blue shirt. What the fuck amI supposed to do with it now
>>
>>34875236
Being worried about flagging people while the gun holstered pointless.
I have a Miami classic for a p228 and recommend it if the gun is a compact or smaller. I am a 5'9 and not very thick and I find that full size guns start poking out the back. I think I f you're planning on carrying a full sized gun the VHS is worth considering.

You convinced me. I will now just buy this, a hammer and a single .45 bullet.
>>
>>34881559
Then you will become a real human bean.
>>
>>34880448
Think of it this way, if an office shooter starts killing your coworkers, the secretary at reception is going to go first. So just grab it when you start hearing the screams and gunshots, you should get a 15 second head start.
>>
>>34875236
I have the classic for my 1911, I love it. Can only really use it during coat weather though. It is too hard to conceal without a jacket in my opinion. All the guys hating on shoulder rigs are faggots and don't offer any reasoning for the hate. Like I said, the only con is that it is difficult/impossible to conceal without a jacket of some sort.

>>
>>34875236
I haven't tried any of the Galco rigs, but I have a DeSantis NY Undercover and like it. I'd go with a vertical holster for a full-sized pistol though. I carry a subcompact and it's still somewhat hard to conceal with an overshirt or light jacket.

Pretty much this

Legit isnt fast enough and yorue more likely to shoot someone else or yourself, anyone who isnt the badguy pretty much with the way you have to draw

pretty much only fudds carry like this, if there could be a law banning it I would actually support it, its fucking stupid.
>>
>>34875236
Do not use shoulder holsters, you will be perceived differently

Congratulations.

Shoulder holster with belt straps or OWB holster are the most comfy.

>>34875811
If a holster is comfortable, you're going to wear it more often than if it's uncomfortable or inconvenient. Shoulder holsters are easy to wear, offer excellent concealability (especially if vertical), and ease of draw in every position.

>>34887488
Plenty, and if you wear jackets, suits or overshirts, it's an easy way to conceal a full size pistol even if you aren't the widest person around.
>>
>>34887665
Also they often attach to your belt, so they can act as suspenders too

now give your actual opinion with your own words faggot.

I've always wondered if people really wear these things. I guess with a jacket when weather allows it's probably comfortable and I don't see how the draw is any slower if you practice (as you should with any holster) but I do think they look pretty goofy. Then again the whole point is that nobody should see it. Can't comment on models but Galco seems popular in the few holster videos I've watched that mentioned shoulder holsters. I'll stick with my IWB but if it works for you go for it, order on Amazon or something and return it if you don't like it.
>>
>>34875236
Buy some Sam Andrews leather. The Galco is cheap shit and will wiggle around if you bend over
>>
>>34887034
>>34887559
OP here. I understand his point, but why should I care about how people perceive my carry style? As of right now, I really don't care.
>>
>>34875236
I live in Seattle and never considered a shoulder holster til now. How comfortable are they?
>>
>>34888430
who the fuck is this guy in the vid? He looks like a tired Sig Hansen
>>

Paul Harrell. I love his videos. They're laid back and very informative, in my experience.
>>
>>34886933

>>
>>34875236
I've got the Miami Classic & have worn it for years with a Beretta 92. You will obviously have to change your manner of dress; jackets/loose-fitting, button shirts over a t-shirt.

Some ranges I've been to won't let you use a shoulder holster though. Practcie with all of your gear is key.

Why not a shoulder Holster that's down the other way of >>34887665
The grip is facing behind you and you can pull it up and fire it from within the holster on order to shoot from the hip quickly?
>>
>>34876889
I prefer an IWB holster for concealment. Worn one for years. If you're in an environment that allows open carry, OWB is fine. Also good if you wear a jacket/overshirt all day.. If you're worried about the gun falling out, Galco, DeSantis, Safariland all make holsters with a thumbsnap. If you practiice, that snap won't slow your draw enough to worry about it.
