What would being shot in the neck like? Like with a handgun?
I just realised I've never heard of this happening before. It's usually blades to the neck. But never bullets. Seems like a nice to incapacitate someone while leaving them there in agony and fear.
Depends on where. If you're grazed on either side if the neck you should be fine. If you take one directly to the front it's going to suck so bad you will shoot yourself. Your trachea will be trashed and you will suffocate in blood. You could also travel through and hit your spinal cord. If the carotid or jugular get hit then blood will most likely run down into your chest cavity and create a hemothorax, smothering your heart and lungs, which will kill you unless you get surgery immediately.

I'd imagine that even if you survive a spinal shot, you'd be a Quadriplegic. Either or, sounds like a shit way to go.

Not to mention if the carotid or jugular get hit you will most likely bleed out anyway in minutes. So no need to really worry about the hemothorax

Tl;dr: it would suck royal
Not op but knowing this why do people wear helmets and plates onna chest and back and sides often but seem to wear neck armour less often? The neck seems like such a vulnerable part of the body.
There's that video going around of the cop who got shot point blank by a hand gun. He got hit in the neck. Go watch that.

George Orwell was during the Spanish Civil War and survived it. It must suck though.

Hard to make armor for that part of the body outside of collars. best thing you could do is make a Choker, but at that point it'd be like having someone's dickbeaters around your neck all the time, and even then, minimal gains, the shock of a hit would still probably take you out of the fight if not kill you. tack on the loss in your OODA loop speed and there really isn't much of a benefit
