Questions that don't deserve their own thread
Questions that dont deserve their own thread

Why shouldn't I get an SP2022?
>$400
>Sights that fit P200 series pistols fit on the SP as well.
>Mec gar mags are reasonably priced
>Stealth gear makes holsters for it

Am I missing something?

>>34860268
It doesn't have the silhouette or perceived value as the P rockstar P pistols. If that doesn't faze you, buy that shit!

They're pretty underrated honestly
Or at less under exposed

Nope.

If you want a polymer framed DA/SA Sig, that's exactly what you'll get from the SP2022.

Honestly I love my 9mm 2022. First gun I got.

Good selection of mags, easy to break down and clean, can even CC it.

Does anyone know if you can convert a Ruger SR40 to shoot 9mm by simply swapping the barrel, guide rod and mag with the SR9 equivalent? Like a Glock conversion?
>>
>>34860442
It appears so. Barrel, magazine, and recoil spring swap, keep the existing slide.

Ask Ruger.

I'd still ask Ruger first though.
>>

>I'd still ask Ruger first though.
Definitely this. My googling is turning up the possibilty, but Ruger doesn't seem to sell SR barrels direct. I don't see caliber swap kits or anything.
>>
>>34860268
If you want it get it. Don't expect it to be the best shit ever but it's a good gun. I just liked the P07 better

Getting a W. German Sig P226 for $450 today. Did I find a good deal? Anything I should expect?

I just got my first SKS and it's loaded with cosmo as expected. Up here in The People's Republic of Canukistan you can go to prison for not locking your firearms up. Is it safe for me to wrap the cosmo coated receiver/barrel in a towel and lock it in my safe for a few days while I'm cleaning the stock and waiting for some supplies to clean the action or is that just an invitation for rust?

APTIAL-C or DBAL. If you're on a budget and don't need the visible laser look into the OTAL-C.

I'm currently torn between the VP9 and PPQ.. I'm not crazy about how the VP9 feels front heavy in my hands and kept shooting low, but still enjoyed it over all. The PPQ m2 with the 5" barrel on the other hand carried the weight really well and was on target pretty much always for me. But the price point is a good bit higher even with the 100$ rebate Walther has right now.

Any opinions towards to two?

I've been mulling over selling my Colt 1911 in .38 super and getting a compact Range Officer in 45.

I like my Colt but I wouldn't mind having a 45 and some extra cash instead, thoughts?
>>
With the gen5 Glocks supposedly coming out, do you think Glock will continue with gen3 and/or gen4 manufacture? Does anyone know why they kept making gen3's? Was it a parts issue or a CA roster issue or something else entirely?

I know nothing about Mosin Nagants. If possible I would want a Finnish M39 (I hear those are good) but it's not a true Russian peasant boomstick.

What's the absolute most I should pay for a laminate one? Should I get a laminate or hold out for an authentic one, because I'm assuming the Soviets didn't laminate it themselves.

Post laminate stock Mosins.

PS: what does /k/ think about this South African "Vektor" pistol also being offered?

>mfw why wouldn't she get p30sk

>>
>>34863292
Honestly Mosins are going to run you 180 to 200 these days. The who 90 dollar rifle thing is from 2007 where they were dirt cheap. Nice ones are going to be up in the 200 bucks range and /k/ will shit all over you for paying that, but at the same time that's just kind of the way it is.

I'd say stalk gunbroker but if you want Insta satisfaction check someplace like classic firearms.
>>
>>34862830
I've talked with them about a build I'm working on. they say it's capable out to 800m with their 18in barrel. rifle is pretty fucking heavy though. I'd look into building your own. it'll save you about 1000-1500 and do the exact same job.

>>34863022
if the PPQ shoots good for you, then that's one I'd go with. the extra cash is worth it in my opinion.

>>34863180
If you want a .45 1911, then just get a Rock Island or build one off of an 80. prices for build kits are actually not that expensive if you look hard enough.
>>
Should i get a 590a1 or ar-10/ptr91 for my next gun? So far i have a AR and a 229
>>
>>34863292
most I'd pay for a regular mosin is 250. that's about going rate for one. usually with ammo. hex receiver: extra 25-30. Finn mosins have been going for 300 and up. but they are considerably nicer. both in looks and shooting.

>>34863359
PTR91. G.I. models can be had for less than 900 with a paddle mag release.
>>
I want to get a rimfire pistol for practice and plinking.

I'm stuck between a Smith and Wesson 617 and a Kadet kit for my CZ 75 SP-01.

On one hand, the 617 is really nice, I like smith triggers, and I enjoy shooting DA revolvers. However, shits expensive when I could get a gun like a Ruger MKIV for nearly half the price.

The Kadet will let me get a lot more experience with my CZ75 trigger and ergos, but it probably won't be as fun to plink with. Also, it's expensive considering I could just get that ruger for the same price.

So, Kadet or 617?

I'd get the Kadet kit if I had to choose between the two. like you said, you'll get more experiance with your CZ.

the soviets did A LOT of laminate stocks. So, it's all on your personal opinion. If you feel it's bubba, then don't do it.

what should I do if I came into inheritance with a buried long barrel unregistered selective fire variant of lr 300, and a Winchester 1912 from Vietnam, heat shield too, And an honest to God m79.
Im currently nogunz bc I live in NY, but I've done hunting etc before w cousins, family. I have no fucking clue what to do as this is buried on the other side of the country.
I have the lat/long coordinates from a paper letter mailed to me as an inheritance from a person I would spend summers with, an ex scout sniper.
I genuinely don't know what to do. I know it's also safe where it is, it won't move from the spot it's in. But I'm stuck as to what to do with this. I can't bring the lr anywhere near ny without destroying it. I also have a steady, good paying job right now, I won't be able to move.
Sorry for typos, I've been up for a while with a migraine.

Anybody here own a .22 revolver? Is the cylinder gap a safety concern with such a weak cartridge? Could it still amputate your finger?

I bought this M57 described as "parts missing" stupid cheap as a project. As far as I can see the only thing missing is the safety that was added for import. The problem is, the magazine won't lock in unless the slide is back, and then the slide won't drop unless it's removed. With the slide forward, the mag wont seat. With no magazine, the slide, hammer and trigger seem to function fine. Any ideas/ suggestions?
>>

>>
Are the Surefire XC1s still trash? Should I just buy an APLc?
>>
>>34863949
Have you tried loading a different magazine into the gun? Could be a bad mag.

Can you manually lock the slide open, with no magazine?
>>
>>34863949

make sure its a yugo mag, and not a tokarev mag. tokarev mags are a no-go in M57's.
>>
>>34863773
Fuck NY, move. If you can't dig them up save them for the revolution.
>>
>>34863992

Slide locks open and everything seems to function with no mag. I haven't tried another mag since all I have is this one it came with, but you may be right. You can see in the pic the plate is bent at the front so it may have been jammed in the past and someone tried to pry it out.

>>34864009

Any specific way to tell? There are no marking on it and this is my first pistol of this type so I'm not too familiar with them.
>>

Can't move without becoming a hikki.
Just wondering if there's a way to process the shotgun and the m79 legally as historical artifacts. I don't want to damage them. If they can't be I'll just leave them. They are in a spot where they can't be found anyway.

Check the leaf spring that tensions the mag. I had all sorts of hell with mine, making that tighter though seemed to help. I had bought two of them and mine barely fucking functions and the one i got for my father runs with no problems. I've taken both of them apart and i cant tell any difference and have given up on mine.
>>
>>34864051
>>34863992
>>34864009

I just realized that the front of the follower is catching on the lip of the mag and wont even go down further than that so that has to be why it won't seat and the slide won't close on it. Looks like I just need to get some new mags.

Once I confirm it's fully functional I can start restoring it cosmetically. On that note, has anyone ordered from marschalgrips.com? The website is pretty crude but the grips look amazing.

"Cheap" and "longslide" don't typically go together but some relatively inexpensive options are FN FNS 9L, HK P30L in .40 (MUCH cheaper than 9mm), Walther PPQ 5", Steyr L9 or L40 and surplus Beretta 92s have long barrels and slides.

I've been thinking of how you could make a practical open bolt 9mm pistol. Cons are the slide slamming forward and screwing accuracy, and needing a more complex recoil spring that unlocks from the slide. Pro is that you can have a gun the same weight and size as the .380 PPK.

Could it work /k/?

I'm heavily considering selling my .308 Remington 700 to fund the build of a 6.5 grendel AR, kind of like the pic. I feel like the .308 is unnecessary where I live because there's forests and hills everywhere, so you rarely have large open areas for longer range shots. I'm gonna use it for shooting around 4-500 yards as well as for deer.
My first question is what should I sell my Remington 700 for? Everything is factory except the stock, which is the Magpul Hunter 700. I've got a Bushnell 3-9 scope I got free from a friend on it.
Second question is what your guys opinion on all of this is. Am I making a retarded mistake selling my R700 for this thing? Any suggestions on how to setup the AR? I think it's a good idea but I'm not an expert, this will be my first AR and I don't know a lot about precision rifles, so any input will be greatly appreciated.

Sorta /k/, but if there's a criminal on the lose who is an active threat, do police have the ability to search the property and premises of unrelated citizens (neighborhoods, yards, etc.) to try and find said criminal?
What would this be called if it's true?
>>
>>34865581
Assuming you don't mean a full auto SMG or PDW theres anything B&T, MP5, CZ Scorpion, CX4 Storm, X95 9mm conversion, Kriss Vector, Sig MPX, Uzi, Sten, Thompson, P90, Sub2k, UMP45, Glock carbine kits, and probably a lot more I'm leaving out. You've got a whole lot of options for 3k. If you're talking full auto that's beyond my area of expertise.

What are the potential holdups or gotchas when doing it? My understanding was that you just need to notify the ATF with a form with all the NFA items listed on it and wait for them to give you the okay, but I feel like I'm missing something.

How hard is it to overcome flinch? I haven't ever shot a gun but hope to get my lisence by next month if everything goes right. People say to start with a .22 but .22s don't appeal to me. Can't I learn on a 9mm handgun and/or an AR15? Want to get a Jericho 941 and build a gucci AR

You flinch? 5.56 and 9mm wont or shouldnt (pussy) make you flinch. They say start with .22 because once you learn the basics, its a fun gun to have as a plinker. Ammo is cheap, guns are usually cheap, and what not. Just don't start with a "muh 50 bee em geez" in some tacky expensive custom rifle

most people flinch because the gun spooks them a little. Pull the trigger slowly so you feel where the creep ends and then just practice. You'll get used to it over time. being over it by next month might be a bit of a stretch since you've never shot before, but hey, everyone's different.

The bullets themselves should be fine for decades, depending on your climate.

The magazines on the other hand shouldn't be left loaded for more than a couple of months. Mags that aren't used should also have their spring oiled once every year. Mags that are used need oiling more often.

Be warned, its a bitchy story.

All this happened years ago from 1st-4th grade. School eyeballed me because my religious father thought some chink across the water could use black magic to mind control me and told the school. Simple shit like if I didnt want to go swimming, Im being controlled. So instead of focusing on him, they focus on me for five years. I wanted to die, ended up going to the shrink for observation for one week and came out clean but had to goto therapist and take bullshit ad pills which I quit the second day. School also blamed me for a fuckin cap gun they found in the court yard and I got sent to local pd thinking I was gonna do columbine 2. Assholes forced me to get rid of my airsoft gun that I had, but in the end they found out I was harmless. Im afraid that shit would stop me from block me from getting a fun even though Im good now. Eventually the school found out but I had jumped ship into a new district because my mum wised up and divorced his ass.

Because steel-cased ammo is generally shit quality control. US-legal semi-auto FALs are missing an essential safety mechanism that the ATF considers VERBOTEN so they are more likely to have OOB discharges with said shit-tier ammo.

If your state has "universal" background checks then you'll have to get NICS regardless. If it doesn't you can do a person-to-person transfer without a check, but you'll have to find someone willing to straw purchase for you and risk going to prison.

I should have clarified - I can't have access to guns until I get my license. I've played around with airshit before and can pull the trigger without jerking and all that, I've just heard a ton of people say to get a .22 to get over flinch if I develop it. If it's solely a working gun then the only reason i could think of would be to get a different finish than blueing. Cerakote/durakote are both a little more durable and the former is somewhat self lubricating. That being said you do you, those are definitely more "modern" style then a lot of people would tolerate on an ageless classic like the mak. Keeping rust 100% perfectly off an unfinished firearm can sneak up on you with surprising ease if you have a life and live in the wrong locale.
>>
What's the best way to remove rust from a butt plate? We're talking moderate rust and pitting over a couple of square inches.
>>
>>34871923
If all else fails then i wouldn't recommend being caught in possession of a firearm either. That being said person to person transfers are off the books(depending on state) and could work even if you couldn't go through an FFL.

All that being said I wouldn't be too worried about going to an FFL and giving it a shot. Almost nobody reports NICS refusals, Almost nobody investigates them, and almost nobody prosecutes them. The rateof convictions is literally a fraction of a percent of the number of NICS refusals IIRC.

Worst case scenario you could make up a BS story like that you share a name with a felon and had to appeal to the ATF to stop getting refusals and are willing to pay a random out of town FFL's transfer fee just to see if they really fixed their mess up after filing a successful appeal. Illegitimate refusals are more common than real ones and having to go back and forth or deal with shenanigans involving the ATF aren't exactly unheard of.

What can an infantryman bring home after his tour is up?
Is all of your gear US property and just gets recycled?
Do you just get some fatigues and a pat on the back when they send you home?
Do COs ever allow soldiers to take home sidearms or helmets?
Are most of what soldiers bring back smuggled in illegally?
How often do people do that?

Any and all answers are appreciated, sorry if I'm retarded for not knowing

How are semi-auto SMG's classified? Are they SBR? I kinda want a UMP but have no idea if they're NFA or anything. I don't see a lot of SMG talk on /k/ to learn from either

Somebody invents magic quantum shit and slaps it in a 9mm revolver, increasing it's capacity with no change to its size or reliability. How it works doesn't matter, what I'm wondering is what capacity would this revolver need to be preferred over autos by law enforcement/militaries? I'm thinking 9 is the minimum, higher capacity than most 9mm single stacks.

Literally no reason. Ive had one for coming up on 8 years now and its been my carry and range pistol. No failures, nothing but good things to say. It doesnt have the "prestige" of the P22X lines, but at the price point who the fuck cares.

Also as far as holsters, get an AyyylmaoGear holster, you wont regret it.
>>
>>34876803
Full/semi auto is a different deal from the actual physical dimensions of a rifle.

Quick and dirty rundown

Barrel < 16" + stock = SBR/SBS

Originally manufactured with Barrel < 16" + no stock = pistol

Caliber and whatnot doesn't matter to the ATF

Sweet! I'm looking to make it my first carry gun, so it's good to hear from someone with a positive carry experience.

>AyyyLmao
I'll probably end up going through like 12 holsters, but I'm gonna start with stealthgear. Their whole gimmick is that their material is super lightweight and breathable.

It's hot and humid here 8 months out of the year, breathable sounds good to me.

Thank you for the input anon. How do you carry it, aside from the ayyy holster?
>>
>>34876894
For law enforcement and military purposes? At least 15 rounds.

No modern military/LE agency is issuing single stacked 9mm guns anymore.

Even still, there's no real advantage to a service revolver in 9mm. Now, a 8-12 shot 357 magnum may draw in some buyers for specialized roles.

From reading they seem pretty solid. I has a Sar K2P which is imported by the same company EAA. I love my k2p but I almost went with the witness. The only reason I went with the k2p was because I liked the shorter barrel and the sights. Also, where I got my K2P the witness was 279.99. This got me thinking.
I know most modern semi-auto handguns are more than good enough for average civilian use, so how important is the aftermarket from a purely utilitarian perspective?
Say I want the ruger, nice gun, good reputation, will use it stock without any upgrades, in that case, how concerned should I be that I can't buy replacement barrels for it?

Greetings from /tg/.

How much damage would a lance-sized arrow traveling at mach 1 do to things like stone structures? I figure it should probably be on par with something like a cannonball.

The bow and arrow are both constructed of magical bullshit and as such can stand up to the immense stress of firing, and the arrow is made entirely of your typical "unbreakable" material roughly as heavy as steel.

Video and pic mostly related, the boss battle begins 1 mile away when a similar character senses the party getting "near", stage 1 of the boss fight is having to close that distance while the fantasy equivalent of a railgun fires at them from a tower.

22lr and 22wmr are different cartridges, with different chamber dimensions. A 22lr is not supported in a 22wmr chamber. you won't have a catastrophic failure but will have case ruptures, and parricles to the face. And it will prematurely wear out the revolver.
It's not a good idea.

n you link to the statute, law or regulation that says it's illegal to saw-off a muzzle loader? AFAIK, so long as it does not fire/cannot be modified to use cartridge ammo, the ATF doesn't consider it a firearm and thus it is exempt from almost all regulations.

Ive owned 3 different 10/22 over the course of 30 years. Each and every ne sucked the sweat from a dead man's taint. Stovepipe, FtF, FtE, mag jam. The only thing they would eeat with any reliability was Fiocchi or CCI minimags and nothing I did corrected the problem. I replaced the spring set, I stripped it down to the bare metal, I lubed, over lubed, dry lubed, under lubed; nothing worked.

I discommend the 10/22 to everyone who uisn;t a rich asshole with money to burn. Your scheckles are too hard-won to waste on shitty guns.
>>
>>34883112
So what .22 rifle would you recommend instead?
>>
>>34883138
I used to love my old man's Remington .22 bolt action. And HenryUSA is still making .22 lever guns patterned on the old Henry rifles. I thik Savage still makes a .22 pump gun even.

It's too anemic a round for an autoloader IMO, though some people swear by the Marlin Model 60.
>>
>>34883253
That's pretty odd since everything I've read and watched about the 10/22 praises its reliability.
I don't like the model 60 because I don't fancy putting my hand in front of a loaded gun during reloading. Maybe a 795?
I think the Henry's i saw were a little out of my price range
>>
>>34883438
there was an entire thread last night full of people bitching about their shitty experiences withe the 10/22.

And if you're foolish enough to reload a model 60 with one in the pipe, then you deserve to ND yourself into the ER.

Never had any experience with a 795. At a glance it looks like a 10/22 clone.

I used to have a P250, it was garbage.
It had a mediocre too bad double action only trigger, that didn't always necessarily feel consistent.
Mine also would have a misfeed in about every 100/150 rounds.
That's with mostly shooting Winchester and Remington.
My P320 on the other hand has been good, except for after about 3500 rounds I had to replace the extractor and extractor spring

>>34879683

>>
>>34884164
Technically speaking? A 10.5 is lethal out to a good 300 meters.

Speaking in terms of ideal ballistics? When the round is doing 100% of what it's supposed to? It entirely depends upon ammunition. XM193 ball is generally considered gtg at 2800 fps and above.

This means that M193 will only fragment consistently out of a 10.5" barrel at very close ranges (50 meters and in).

Howeeever, when you introduce the massive selection in ammunition the market currently offers, I don't fucking know.
