Would there be any way to improve the performance of the short-barreled Panzer IVs?

No

install longer barrel maybe?
>>
>>34859601
Daily Panzer thread?
>>
Nope
Suspensions already fucked out and near overloaded by the F2 model. That's the limiting factor. Can't add a bigger gun, any more armor, or new engines. All because the bogeys can't take it.
>>
>>34859777
Nice trips.

How about different ammo?
>>
>>34859601
HEAT rounds that can hit something at 100m+.
>>
>>34859777
Well, let me rephrase. If you're talking a D or F1 model, you can slap on a turret from an F2/G or H model, or go the French route of just shoehorning the 7.5 L/43 directly into the F1 turret. Beyond that, nothing can be done.
>>
>>34859791
The short 7.5 did have HEAT rounds available. The ballistic drop is fucking real, but late war Panzer IIIs were used in a pinch with the short 7.5 to do antitank work with that ammunition.

Simplify construction with a single upper glacis plate, move the engine forward to the transmission and put a door on the back for a small squad

What is this part under the barrel? I've always wondered, it looks cool, but ive never gotten an answer.
>>
>>34860580
to push the antenna away so it doesnt get stuck between the coaxial mg and main gun
>>
>>34860506
>move the engine forward
Where will the crew go? The Pz4 is pretty crowded.
>>
>>34859601
Better sights and rangefinding equipment so maybe you can actually hit something with your HEAT rounds.

Also this guy's idea with the glacis plate. Not the IFV part though.

>>34860594
almost.

its an isolated piece, to prevent the antenna from grounding through the barrel

I know that the Panzer IV got a long 75mm in the later models but could a short 88mm gun be mounted instead of a long 75?
>>
>>34860765
Huuuh, no. A FlaK 36 is pretty big.

no, that's one of the main reasons why the Panther was developed.

This is the pinnacle of visually pleasing tank design. You literally can't beat it and I sure as hell want to fuck that Panzer IV.
>>
>>34860827

there was never a panther II ausf f

the ausf f was a development that came AFTER the Panther II

sauce Panzer tracts No5-4 Panzerkampfwagen Panther II and Panther Ausführung F
>>
>>34860827

also the Daimler-Benz Schmalturm was to be mounted with a 8,8 cm L/71
>>
>>34860765

Krupp wanted to mount a normal or a Schmalturm panther turret on the panzer iv ( the panther 75mm had more firepower than the 88 ) but it never got anywhere because the cease of production of the panzer iv
>>
>>34860988
No u stupid everybody knows about the panther II ausf F, or the early panther III if your prefer. Pic related, and now stfu stop being so dumb.
>>
>>34861098
it didnt get anywhere because of the too small turret ring of the IV and because it would be too fucking heavy
the IV got produced until the very end of the war senpai
>>
>>34859601
Give it torsion bars so it won't be overburdened when you give it a long 7.5.
