Name one reason you wouldn't use 7.62x25mm for self-defense

Ya know, I want to fight this one, but other than somewhat rarity, that looks like a pretty decent round.
I still love 10mm auto though. Fuck .40 S&W. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z49Lbnt16M
>>34854384
If I could get my hands on a full auto PPSh I damn well fucking would.
>>34854477
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvLt8-Wf7r0
>>34854384
The guns available for it are all either too large (PPS pistols, CZ-52) or hold too few rounds (Tokarev). A PPS might not be too bad for home defense.
Pretty nice performance though.
>>34854384
Lack of quality modern designs and modern defensive ammo
>>34854384
IMHO that cartridge was accidentally 100yrs ahead of it's time. Make it a little shorter and wider and you'd have a great candidate for a next gen autoloading cartridge with above average performance against armor and soft tissue.

Is that a Burger King key chain? What is that shit by the magazine well? It looks like someone did a shitty job peeling off a sticker. Wtf is going on.

Or, you know, it's not.
>>34854384
Because there are very few pistols made for it anymore. If it were still offered with a wide selection of quality ammunition and reloading components, then sure, I'd use it.

Hello Flandre, nice fingernails.
>>34854980
>implying you have time to flick the safety off in a self-defense situation
I was talking about the Tokarev
Also what are the chances of a gun falling to the ground AND shooting someone nearby
>>34854384
Because either I would have to own an unreliable cz tinker gun, a 1903-gripped soviet surplus 2nd only to the nagant revolver in obsolescence-when-adopted, or an abortion of a PPSh.
>would be pretty neat in a purpose-built AR though
I'd use the fuck out of it if it was currently produced by good manufacturers and available in double stack handguns.
>>34854384
I don't buy slavshit.
>>34855098
This. Shitty guns for poor people.
You faggots all talk about how many rounds you need to shoot your fictional monster in your heads!
Never gonna happen ever! If you need a round in the chamber a pull away from your holster you're fucked anyway and prolly your fault for getting yourself in that predicament!
A Tokarev is one of the easiest handguns to rack! Are you the type of person who is going to challenge a another who is pointing a gun at and say I don't believe you have a bullet in that chamber! The mere showing of a handgun in anyone's direction kind of makes its own point. now back to the Tokarev---
Its cheap as fuck, almost indestructible, you can inter-change the barrels from 7.62x25 to .38 Super to 9mm, all in a $200 strongly made, simple pistol! Now Shooting the bad guy-----
Why would you spend any amount of hard earned cash to defend yourself against a treat you will never face, and if you do face it why not use the cheapest stuff possible (that works) because in the long run that person you have to shoot ain't worth shit to begin with!
>>34855040
>Also what are the chances of a gun falling to the ground AND shooting someone nearby
Happened multiple times during the 90's in Czechland when the police carried CZ 82, which were notorious for going off when dropped on the hammer.
With the CZ 52 you had like a 50% chance a given gun's firing pin block won't work back when the guns were new, due to the Brod factory having constant tolerance issues (the military refused to accept the first batches because they consistently failed to meet their requirements, and instead of unfucking the production, the politburo made the military loosen the requirements repeatedly until the guns passed.)
Now when they're beat to shit, the firing pin block might as well not be there, and the decocker sometimes doubles as a trigger.

Pretty much this. Even then I'm pretty happy with gold dots, pdx1 and hsts

well that's good to know, along with the poorly supported chamber. it's still a sexy gun though.
>>34855179
>Happened multiple times during the 90's in Czechland when the police carried CZ 82
I'm still talking about the Tokarev
tokarev(cz52 actually) ballistics gel.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEnfCNcGNRU
I CC a CZ52 sometimes, with bulgarian steelcore surplus. In case of body armor wearing baddies.
though I need to fix the rear sight. either the rear sight is out of spec or the slav milled out the slide too much.
>>34855235
The chamber is fully supported. It's just really thin (to the point of being scary) above the roller cutouts.
>>34855253
Then why the fuck did you respond to a post about the 52 twice?
Anyway, yeah, Toks are reasonably safe to carry on half cock.
>>34855333
Why the fuck did you respond to me the first time when I said I was talking about the Tok and not the 52?
>>34855355
You asked how likely it was to shoot someone when your gun goes off after you drop it. I answered.
>>34855333
>>34855235
Pic related.

You're retarded.
>>34854384
Hard to find unless interwebz, corrosive surplus pretty much gone, and no real new production pistols to utilize it.
>>34854384
My only reason is that my zastava m57 doesn't feed reliably.
Fags prefer the 5.7 and the extra $1100 to shoot tiny holes In paper
>>34854384
Lack of modern options.
>>34858573
Like all the shit you don't need!
>>34854523
This. The cartridge by itself is an overall great round even today, but there aren't any good guns for it.
Don't know about custom barrels tho.
>>34854384
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5hSLHm-bdU&t=310s
because 375 Sig exist
there is no modern double stack handgun chambered for 7.62 Tokarev. except the Vietnamese double stack Type 54
>>34854384
overpenetration
>>34854586
This. Firing tok ammo out of a c96 isn't recommended.
>>34854384
7.62x25mm seems like an excellent cartridge. Why hasn't anyone simply made spitzer bullets for it and modern handgun/SMG to go with it? A 20-round polymer-framed, striker-fired pistol with good sights, modern ergos (ambi mag and slide release...) and either a threaded barrel or a compensator would be perfect.
not much good defensive ammo available
PPU "JHP" that barely expands is the best available
although I think that you can hand load .32 H&R/.327 Fed projectiles
>>34855179
>Happened multiple times during the 90's in Czechland when the police carried CZ 82, which were notorious for going off when dropped on the hammer.
source?
because CZ vz. 82s have a long ass firing pin spring and a safety notch on the hammer so that it can't move forward without the trigger being pulled fully to the rear
Anyone have experience with a 7.62x25 1911?
>>34859543
You mean Tok?
>>34859543
just get a Tokarev or .vz 52
the 1911s hold like 5 rounds and will cost you more than a Tokarev
>>34858941
Because it wouldn't do jack shit to a person except make a nice clean hole?
>>34854736
Damn that's seen some use.
>>34860033
too bad it's not available in the US
Canadians have it worse overall but they get some cool stuff that makes up for it
>>34860045
You mean the same thing every bullet does?
>>34860063
I wish zastava would reverse engineer it and import it. I am sure they would sell much better than the cz999's they are currently bringing into the country.
>>34860066
You can at least have a bit bigger hole with this little innovation they call the hollow point.
>>34855172
>The mere showing of a handgun in anyone's direction kind of makes its own point.
It escalates the threat of violence to whereby the other parrtis justified in using whatever means of defense they can.
Better hope they don't draw on you with a chambered round.
>>34860116
never had an issue with my 9mm version but its a double stack sig clone and not a tokarev.
>>34860135
Thanks. Guess I can try to put some steel cased through it, maybe it needs to be treated like shit.
>>34854384
I'm literally CCing my Tokarev as I type this, since my new slavshit CCW isn't here yet.
I don't like the idea of 7.62x25 for self-defence, since surplus FMJ (uber-cheap up here and fun to shoot) is noted for simply ice-picking right through people. It's small and fast, and of course, your only choices for a common sidearm chambered in it are outdated slavshit, like the Cz.52 or TT33, or the DA P762, the chunkiest pistol this side of that double 1911.
It's one of my favorite pistol cartridges, but not one I really want to carry, if that makes sense. There are just so many better-proven and more common options.
>>34858997
There was that absurdly hot MagSafe """JHP""", cranking out at like 2200fps/600 ft/lbs at the muzzle. Though I wouldn't want to shoot it out of my TT.
Are RIP bullets a meme?
>>34862230
Is that even a question?
>>34855036
I-I'm not Flandre, I just haven't cut my thumbnail in a while.
It's actually because of work, I use hand held devices to enter packages and the touch screens use pressure and not an electrostatic touch, so it's easier with the longer thumbnail and not whipping out a stylus every time.

10mm fags are the dumbest creatures on planet earth.
>>34854384
No good modern self defense bullets available. It's too hot with ball, the wounding could be much better.
>>34860045

>>34868156
Wow, you really made me think. But since I'm a perfect shot and hit the bad guys heart every time I prefer .22lr for it's low recoil.
