In my limited experience, humidity control is much less important than keeping your guns oiled. My safe is definitely dry inside but if I handle a dry gun and don't wipe it off I can get surface rust in a couple days.
Dessicant packs don't hurt though, and they're cheap.

No hygrometer or desiccants.
I do have the reusable desiccant that came with the safe in my ammo cabinet, mainly just to use it.
