Be prepared to pay $300 for a 91/30. If you want a Finn or any decent one then it'll be about $400.
>>
>>34842544
Fuck that. The only appeal for me was it was cheaper stuff fuck.
>>
>>34842566
Cheap as fuck* whew autocorrect.
>>
>>34842580
Even for $100 it's hot garbo. If you want quality milsurp that doesn't eat expensive or forgotten rounds get an Ishy Enfield or a Jew Mauser, they both can be found in .308 for ~$300.

Because only one company still makes ammo/components for them, and not in significant quantity.

Nuggets are pricey now.
I bought my first for 100 bucks and sold it for 250.
I just bought 2 nuggets for $450 though. One is a 91/30 and the other is an M44 with a laminant stock.

Milsurp should only be bought by collectors.

About a decade in the past. Even in leafland theyre pushing 200

that's why they're under 200.
>>

>>34842566
Sorry, anon, that's an oldmeme - you missed the boat on cheap milsurp rifles. They're all expensive now (just about the only class of guns that has kept getting more expensive even after Trump won), and are only going to get more so. Nowadays, milsurp is exclusively for collectors - the days when you bought it just to get a cheap shooter are gone forever.

That said, if you want a cheap shooter, I highly recommend a Maverick 88 shotgun. They can be had in the $200 range, plus or minus $20 (I got mine on sale at a Dick's Sporting Goods last October for $180), and 12 gauge shotgun shells are both cheap and plentiful. The Mav is a solid gun - reliable and powerful. Can't go wrong.
>>
>>34842598
>Israeli Mauser
>300

Bull fucking shit, 600 is the usual minimum.
>>
>>34842502
I wish surplus ammo was still plentiful and cheap. Thats one of the main reasons I bought it. Best I can find is 39 cents a round, although it is tracer and shooting tracer rounds out of a nugget is fun as shit.
>>
>>34843812
I already have a shotgun so I was looking for a cheaper rifle. I don't plan on hunting with it just something fun to shoot with relatively cheap ammo.

sure, specs were fun, cheapish with cheap available ammo. you don't want an sks don't get one. if you just want a rifle check the consignment rack at your lgs, there's probably a few hunting rifles for around $200 in non boutique calibers. if you are tempted by any of the surp keep in mind that there isn't much in the way of surp ammo anymore.

I'm tempted to dump my T53 that I got for $99 in 2014 since I never could get ammo for it and I don't really want to reload for it. I got a M48 for like $300 in January (idk how it shoots, rifling is strong, bore and chamber are in good shape, but its pitted a bit) that I'd rather bother reloading for my yugo larping than chink shit.

But then again it was only $99 and it's a functional gun.

The poorfag gun list was good for its time but is badly out of date. For one thing, those Baikal shotguns dried up and are basically unobtainium now. They should probably be replaced on the list with those Turkish-made Hatfield shotguns that Walmart has been selling for $99 in the past little while. There are other changes that should be made... basically, the mods should probably sticky a thread on updating the list one of these days.

There is two basic types, the old M91 and the M91/30. The M91/30 is the most common modernized version, which is slightly shorter and has modernized sights. The M91/30s after 1936 don't have hex receivers as they were simplified and when war broke out the quality further declined. The two main manufacturers of Mosins were Izhevsk and Tula. Most of them are from Izhevsk, identified by a triangle with an arrow in the middle, while Tulas have a star with an arrow in the middle. They also made carbine models, the M38 and the M44. The majority of Russian Mosins have been refurbished, in which they stripped the original finish and replaced it with the red shellac and replaced any damaged parts. You can tell if it's been refurbished by a square with a line through it mark on the stock.

There's a lot more variants and copies from Finland, Poland, Hungary and China. 7.62x54r . net has a lot of info on Mosins.

Here is my 1935 Izhevsk 91/30. Although it's not super collectible, it's cool, all-matching and was only $180 CAD.

Since this is Mosin related can anyone help me identify my buddies Mosin? He's considering selling it. I'm suspecting it's a 91/30 but I don't know for sure as I'm not an expert. Also can anyone say what city it was made in and how to identify such things in the future?
>>
>>34842502
Fuck nuggets anon. At the prices, you might as well get a Mauser. Better build and 8mm Mauser hits like a fucking stone. Spanish ones are cheap, Yugos and Germans are best built IMO but priciest.
>>
>>34852919
Made at Izhevsk Mechanical Factory in 1943. Presumably a M91/30 if the sight is graduated to 2000m; if only 1000m it's an M38 carbine. I don't see the tip of a folding bayonet alongside the sight, so not an M44 carbine.
