Hey, /k/. I'm not a gunsmith at all, but I do know some of the basic ballistics behind firearms and I was wondering if it would be possible to make the perfect assault rifle by taking an AK-47 reciever and putting it on a bullpup rifle design, my logic is this:
> Main drawback to bullpup design is worsened jamming and backfire
> AK basically never has these problems
> Basically an AK with better recoil control and a longer barrel
Would this work or am I retarded?

neva bean dun befo
>bullpup anything
Back to the drawing board, kiddo.

Why does the design get so much hate though?
> Longer barrel length with shorter gun length
> Better recoil control
> Only drawbacks are reloading weird and frequent jams in the low-quality designs

If a grain of sand gets in it its jammed forever.
>better recoil control
What recoil?

That's the problem I was wanting to fix.
AKs have serious recoil in automatic fire.

Reloading in tight quarters/prone is more difficult, trigger bar is usually very long or quirky and trigger quality goes out the window on bullpups normally. Not ideal to put the chamber right under your face either, safety wise.

AK's aren't good around mud. Add this to a bullpup design and you get a hard to clean, shit tier gun that destroys the AKs one good point of being simple.
You clearly haven't been on /k/ for very long, lurk more before you make a thread or even post.

Gunsmiths don't design firearms. You're thinking of mechanical engineers.
