go find a competion type club, most have a .22 calibur devision.

for instance Cedar Ridge Range near San Antonio TX has some kind of competition every weekend. way more fun than just plinking at paper.

handgun rounds are weak and pretty boring too
556 is the most boring of the centerfires IMO, but it penetrates steel better than anything else I listed(minus actual AP) because of it's speed alone
545 is more fun because it at least has interesting ballistics in it's needle bullet
762x39 is basically the minimum caliber for having major fun
cheap steelcase 308/54r is where it's at for fun these days
and I wish there were bigger rounds I could get for ~50c/r or less, ideally something that feels more like a 12ga slug in recoil so it's something you can still shoot a fair amount of before getting sore

I was thinking a lever action then I started eyeing those new uberti trapdoors in 45-70 then I said no fuck that I want an HK VP9, then I said no fuck that I want a cz 75 sp01, then I said no fuck that, I want a lever action again.

Yep, that feeling will last for the rest of your life most likely. Chances are you'll end up buying all three of the guns you mentioned overtime. The 45/70 will be expensive to shoot, so keep that in mind. I'd say get the CZ, but it's really up to you. Like I said in my original post, it's hard to help you when you don't know what you want.

Hey OP. Now that you've shot your 22 enough to get bored you probably know the places to go shooting. With that in mind pick something more interesting for the area.

Limited to 50 yards? Get something in a pistol caliber (pistol, SBR or carbine). Hell, get a vector in .45. Practice timed drills.

Have 600yds+? Get into precision rifles, reloading and ballistics. Or, maybe you just aren't a gun guy.

/k/ recommends a 22 because it is a cheap gateway to learning about the places around you and your interest in shooting. 22 doesn't teach you to flinch. Complaining it is boring makes sense, 22 is a balance bike. Sure you can race em, but bikes come in way more interesting types.
