>>
>>34832115
If it's anything like the ruger version I'd get it. I have the 4" gp100 and it's a nice addition at the range
>>
>>34832115
Shot mine today anon. Get the 4". Go to youtube and watch some videos on doing a trigger job on it. GP100 or SP101 videos don't matter it's the same shit. I had to order some trigger shims(google it also look for video on youtube for how to measure to see what size shim you need) for mine to stop the hammer dragging the frame. I also put reduced power springs in it (8lb trigger and 12lb hammer) and it is fucking slick as hell. You're also gonna want to put the Hi-Viz fiber optic front sight on it get it from amazon they have it the cheapest.
>>
>>34832431

oops lol I thought you were buying the superior GP100. Enjoy your hillary hole.

Incidentally does anyone know a good deal on .38 special?

Buds has federal at .25 cents a round but the shipping kind of ruins it, 34 dollars total for 100 rounds

>>34832519
LOL no. Saf-T-Hammer bought S&W for a song after the brits who sold out to the Clintons lost their shirt due to the backlash from gun owners. You're basically buying a lock that comes with a gun as an accessory.

I don't really understand this, I'm relatively new to guns. Can you explain what all that means like I am sort of retarded?

Ignore the anti-gun slant of this but you'll get the basic gestalt.

Ok, I'm back. I didn't buy anything but I did handle the 2.5" and 4" versions. I preferred the feel of the 2.5" which makes me think the 3" would be a good compromise. But all this talk of the hillary hole has me thinking ruger now. My questions are:
How smooth is the trigger pull of a GP100 compared to this guy?
Is simply removing the lock a viable option?
>>
My stainless 686 keeps getting rust inside of the grips, is there a way I can prevent this? Can I hard chrome it? Will that fix the rust? Can you even hard chrome stainless?
>>
>>34832967
GP100 is like any production gun in that it's gonna need some internal polishing and reduced power springs to to reach its full potential. Mine was breddy good out of the box just a little on the heavy side from over-powered springs but it's slicker than owl shit now after a little work.

And yes you can remove the lock. Plenty of vids on youtube that show how.
>>
>>34832990

https://www.birchwoodcasey.com/Cleaning-and-Maintenance/rig/rig%C2%AE-Universal-Gun-Grease.aspx

Clean the rust off with some oil and steel wool and then apply a coat of link-related(a little goes a long way). No more rust.

>>34832115
disgustingly ugly hole on left side of frame. why would anybody need to talk you OUT of buying that? skip that trash and find an older used model or buy ruger
>>
>>34832967
yes you can remove the lock, the issue is the ugly fucking unneccessary hole on the side...the rugers have locks but were designed with them and they are hidden under the grip

s&w never use dto have the locks and decided the best place to put one is right in the middle of the frame, and instead of offering it as an option they drill every gun. why support such faggotry?
>>
>>34833093
Rugers don't have fucking locks. They have all their instruction manuals online go find one that shows a lock. Just bought a GP100. Have had it all to pieces. NO LOCK.

I think they tried locks a few years ago but gave it up. I'm also thinking that they have versions of the LCR for use in ban states that require a lock but I can't find any current info.

Not the same stuff. Other things might work as well anon I just recommended what I use and know works well.

Amazon has free shipping:

Texas flag here; I've got a gunsmith near me who will remove Hillary holes and fill them in for free as long as you promise to put one of his business cards under someone's windshield wipers.
>>
>>34833127
some of the older LCR's had locks but Ruger phased them out I think without making a big deal of it yet S&W said years ago that they would phase the locks out because no one fucking likes them and the principle is retarded yet they still include them

OP just get a GP100 match champion. The half underlug balances better and the quality is probably better than S&W, there seem to be a lot of crap S&W guns that make it out of the factory these days and you still have the dumb unsightly internal lock that you could always remove but it should NEVER HAVE BEEN THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE
>>
>>34833322
am also a txfag, can you hook it up?
>>
>>34833127
Ruger LCRs used to have an internal lock hidden in the grip, but current ones don't have them.

LCR is the only Ruger revolver that I'm aware of to ever have an internal lock.
>>
>>34832115
Really depends... 4" for muh ballistics or 3" for muh maneuvers

Hickok prefers 3" if it helps

6" minimum if you have a GF and want to keep her.
>>
>>34833640
New Vaqueros also had them, though I am unsure if they are still manufactured with them.

OP, consider a Model 66 if you're going for a 6 shot, they're slightly smaller and are made with 2.75 and 4.25 inch barrels. May balance better.
