Ok dude, if ur still here, i went through the same thing, bought a russian sks and wanted to leave it be, but the follower spring in the magazine was weak and wouldn't load after the 2nd round. Had to buy a new magazine for it

Then the new magazine didn't fit, I found out i had to fit it. I will draw a pic 4 u.

Remove the red part in pic, there is the bit of plastic that holds the top bullet in, it drops off towards the front, that slope stops the bolt from going down and locking in, so remove it so that that plastic part has a steep drop off

Shooting an Sks is like drinking cheap liquor. When you're young it's just the raddest shit. Then as you get older and try better things, you realize it's just kinda shit. Also like drinking at a young age, it's usually your dad who tries to warn you, then it's your dad who shows you the error of your ways.

my dad loves my SKS btw, it only took him one clip's worth of 7.62x39 for him to drive down to the gun store a few days later and get one for himself. He's a turbo-fudd who messes around with $5000+ range queens but he can still understand the fun in annihilating a row of tin cans at 50 yards.
