My advice is just carry a fast opening folder knife, it's what I did all through college. That plus just trying to be smart about your surroundings should be enough. It's up to you whether you want to risk a gun but in a dorm situation you're way more likely to get busted for it than need to use it.

It depends on your living situation and the level of risk you are willing to take.

You probably wont ever get into a fight. But if you are scared about that rare risk... think about ruining your education and career getting caught.

I have seen ppl lose a semester because they had little pellet pistol toys and knives. One was an RA and someone ratted.

On the other hand Ive spoken to cops at the range who also know and were university police and will tell you that there are guns on campus.

If you do have a gun or something youd need to be straight arrow. No drinking or parties in your room. Dont give the RA a chance to come by. Dont hint at stuff. If the police are called they will do a thorough search. Ive seen it happen.

Golf club. Especially if you're going to college with rich people, you can just say you play golf with it. It's innocent looking enough and it's an effective weapon.

In Florida it's illegal to carry on campus, I can leave my guns in my car but that's it
