I now carry SR9C and XD-E exclusively at all times when out. Can't think of better pistols for the whole family to enjoy at the range. Honestly, I can think of two reasons

1) People put too much faith in the make, model, and caliber of their gun. They see the gun as a talisman that will protect them from evil. These people probably need to focus on their skills, and realize any real difference between a Glock 17 and a VP9 is neglible.

2) It's just fun to engage in brand wars. People probably make the mistake in thinking their shit actually says something about them, and that is what marketers count on to make you buy their shit, but Hell, I've been trolling the fuck out of my Sigbros for the last few days, simply for fun.

I haven't had any of the issues that I had with my PPQ with my P2000 or my Glocks. I can't speak for the VP9 because I have no experience with it. I sold my PPQ pretty quickly after buying a Glock 19.

The PPQ had a nice reset and I liked how easy it was to install night sights. But it's overrated and I wouldn't recommend one to anyone after my experience with it and it's constant FTFs.

For the purposes you can own a handgun in Europe the best option is the sp01 shadow, you will have to renew your license every year for handguns, since the only "adequate use" is competition, and you will also have to actually compete and acquire a minimum score to be able to renew it, plus, most gunshops run a god first gun deal, they include the safe, a safe you say? Of course my friend! you need a safe to keep a handgun in your home, or you will have to leave it a the club you are also forced to be a member of.

The best option really, is the collectors license, renew each 5 years, no safe needed, no limit in firearms,can own handguns pre 1900, you get the picture.

The gun laws are a bit laxer here in Finland compared to most parts of europe. Getting handguns is a bit of work and they generally want you to move up in calibers which makes the process a bit slow but you don't need to actually compete or anything. They do want proof that you need whatever gun you are getting for whatever you are doing be it hunting or IPSC stuff or just going to the range. But yeah once you get "experience" with the lower caliber stuff it's relatively easy to get a license for something like an ar-15 or an ak if you do IPSC things. It's a slow system but you can buy just about anything short of fully automatic and even those you CAN buy if you get a collectors license but that's a massive hassle.
