So a pawn store next to my house is selling used a used M92 and a used M92FS for $300 each. I'm planning on buying one tomorrow. Should I bother trying to haggle since this feels like a pretty good price? Also general gun thread.
>>
Bumpin' with my other firearm.
>>
>>34804069
It's a pawn shop you might as well try, worst they can say is no.
>>
>>34804069
Get the fs. I wouldn't even bother haggling. If the store is right next to your house and you need your $15 that bad then you can use your new gun to rob them later.
>>
>>34804168
True dat. It comes with literally just the gun. No case no mags no manual. They also have a Mossberg 590A1 Persauder for $500 that I'm gonna try and talk them down on.

Why specifically the FS?
>>
Cool gun I've always liked those, being a pawn shop I'd walk in with $275 cash and just lay it on the counter and be like alright how about this. Seeing the cash speaks a lot louder to them than just talking numbers, worst case if they say no just pay the asking price and whip out the other $25. Yeah it's just $25 but pawn shops are designed for haggling, it's to be expected you aren't out of line to do so one bit. If they accept take your sweet new pistol and go get a nice lunch with the $25 you just saved!
>>
>>34804217
Newer, better metallurgy.
>>
>>34804285
Hmm, I always thought the M92 was the Military version and the FS was just the Italian Beretta version with no real differences.

>>34804268
Yeah I like it a lot. My cousin is a huge Glock fan but Glocks feel strange to me and are ugly as sin.
>>
>>34804494
Yeah I prefer the old classic look of all the "wonder-nines" of that era, I am thinking about getting a CZ-75 for my next pistol. I really don't care for the Glock design, I'm not a Glock hater I think they are just fine but I'd never buy one personally.
>>
>>34804608
Yeah Glocks make me think of ghetto gangsters and cops. I don't particularly hate them. Just dislike them.
>>
>>34804494
M9 is the military version. M92 was the beginning of the 92 with the button mag release, previous models had heel releases. The m92fs is an improvement on that.
>>
>>34804494
I don't usually hear them called "M92." The military version has the designation of M9, but it only has cosmetic differences from the civilian produced Beretta 92fs. The 92f is older than the 92fs, and the 92s is older than that. I don't think there are really any reasons to prefer the older versions, though. The gun has only been improved over time.
>>
>>34804709
Hilariously I was just gonna buy the M92 just because of the straight dust cover. I think it looks better.
>>
>>34804722
Damn Berettas have such a ridiculous family tree. I've just always seen the Civie M9 labeled as a M92.

>Hmm, I always thought the M92 was the Military version and the FS was just the Italian Beretta version with no real differences.

The M9 is the military version. The 92fs is your garden variety Beretta with a slide mounted safety/decocker.

If the 92 is a legitimate original M92 (and it's not just being mislabeled), it has a frame-mounted safety with no decocker and a different magazine release location. I don't know if you'd be able to use modern 92fs magazines with it.

>>
>>34804796
I think it might be miss-designated which would be strange since I know the owner has been in the business for a very long time. I carefully inspected them and didn't notice any major differences, but I admit I don't have a super sharp eye for detail.
>>
>>34804828
I'll have to look at it closer when I go to purchase tomorrow. Glad I figured out the M92FS is the newer version though

Not trying to hijack but what are anons thoughts on the Wilson Combat Brigadier? is it worth it? I'm just now getting into Berettas and kinda wanted a Gucci one as a first but also like the old school LAPD looking 92. Thoughts on beginner Beretta buyer eyeing a WC

Love my beretta. 300 isn't a bad price at all but you should at least try to talk him down to 250 or 275 or something. Use that money to buy a new locking block. Maybe buy some new grips. Buy a 130 barrel online and bam you've got yourself pretty much a new pistol.
>>
do straight beretta 92s exist on the market? any time i look up 92 i get every variant imaginable but id like to try and get my hands on an original.
>>
>>34804796

Depends on who you but the mags from. Beretta factory mags ($45 a pop usually) are designed to work in ALL Beretta 92 models, look for the simicircular cut above the footplate on the magazines. if i wasn't at work i'd shoot you a pic
>>
I had a 92FS once. It felt like a bloated cow. Downgraded to a CZ 75B. Much better.
>>
>>34804069
Why the fuck...

just buy the fucking m92fs for $300. Fuck the M92 and the 92FS goes for $+480 new
>>
>>34807520
Because you have bitch wrists not suited for shooting gun of man. Buy Ruger .380 next time.
>>
Friendly reminder that buying two handguns from the same FFL within 5 days requires the FFL to send a form with your info and the gun serials to both the ATF and local LE. Don't buy two handguns at the same time unless you're okay with that.
>>
>>34809586
It's not the wrists. he probably just has manlet hands or toe thumbs.
>>
>>34809673

>>

We should pitch in and buy him a derringer.
>>34809952

>>
>>34804198
Offer 725 for both, you'll prolly end up paying around 750.
>>
>>34804069

holy shit
>>
>>34810015
I only want one so I'm not gonna do that. :P If I'm gonna pay $700 for guns I'm gonna get something fancy.

>>34810286
It's a stock photo from google my friend.
>>
Good price for a clean gun.

He probably won't drop price because of his purchase margin, but see if you can get him to throw in a magazine or two, or some white box ammo to get you started.
>>
>>34809952
just reminding OP m8
>>
>>34810286
Not him OP but if some asshole on 4chan (assholes on 4chan, whoda thunk) decides to report your pistol stolen and a cop runs those numbers you're gonna have a lot of explaining to do
>>
>>34804069
At those prices for a FS/M9 buy both if they can reduce the price. Say $525 for the two. Used prices are higher here (Tx) for those so I'd be all over that unless there was defects to the frame or slide. Slide finish wear is expected and can easily be remedied.
>>
>>34811087
True dat. It was just a stock photo tho
>>
>>34811137
Personally whenever I post my guns I never have the serial number in view for that exact reason. It's just best not to trust people on a Venezuelan knitting forum.
>>
>>34804725
92fs for me because it was a better deal at the time, sights are painted three dot but have a notch for dot-post should you paint them, more material in the dust cover, scalloped relief in the grip by the beavertail getting you closer to the trigger, and cause it was a PD special that came with three mags.

M9 and 92FS are virtually the same exact pistol.

A great gun, by the way. You'll like it if you have larger hands like most men. If you have small hands, you won't enjoy shooting it as much and it may be harder to shoot accurately.
>>
>>34804069
Be sure it has the mag release in the right spot. There are plenty of police trade ins from overseas that have the heel mag release.
>>
>>34804069
Also the front sight is part of the slide, to add tritium/fiber optic you'll need to either mill a dovetail or send it off to the gunsmith. First thing most owners buy is a "D" spring to reduce DA pull then order up some new grips.

So I miss-remembered the price. It was 499 for the 92fs and 399 for the 92. Except the 92 was a mislabeled 92fs. And they sold it to me for $350. Not to mention it came with a stainless steel barrel.
>>
>>34812527
Oh and aftermarket rubber grips.

No /K/ommandos to tell me what I did right or wrong?

>>34804069
>Should I bother trying to haggle
haggling is a miniature game of brinksmanship. you need to be willing to walk away if the deal isn't right.

but you're probably millennial so any money you have burns a hole in your pocket and you have no impulse control so enjoy your buyer's remorse.
>>
>>34812527
Tell me your nude and posting on /k/.

Did aight OP, personally would of saved $150 more for a new one or spent less on a 92s. Peruse a d spring, cylinder & slide/WC parts to build it into a beater racer.

In other news Beretta is selling 92fs slides (no barrel) for 50% off right now @ $110. Tempting...
>>
>>34813995
>I didn't know grandpas could shitpost.

>>34814127
Naw, just in shorts. That's the thing. He had this one priced like he thought it was a 92 and it was a 92FS. The other one labeled "92FS" was $150 more.
>>
Guy around me is selling a 92FS with 4 mecgar mags for $450. Is it a good deal?
>>
>>34814127
Fuck that is tempting
>>
>>34814127
>In other news Beretta is selling 92fs slides (no barrel) for 50% off right now @ $110. Tempting...

I saw that, too, but I personally I don't have a need for it. The best argument I can bring to myself is that being a 90-Two owner, it might be nice to have the traditional (better looking) slide.
>>
>>34815923
What condition is it in? I paid $500 for my last "Used" one. Felt that was a good price for one with little to no use.

>>34814127
Fuck that is tempting. The slide on my EDC one is getting pretty beat up from EDC.
>>
>>34811712
Or you could just shoot the fuck out of it, the allure of berettas is their non stop reliability and people like you and glock fags who start fucking with springs for trigger pulls make good guns into light primer strike machines. Get good with the double action pull dry fire the shit out of it, you have a sweet ass sa trigger pull right there man don't fuck with the gun.
>>
>>34820932
Yeah see I feel like I got a good deal. A nifty Beretta for way less than a Glock.
>>
>>34816484
Really? Really that's tempting? A bare slide?
>>
>>34815902
No, he's right. There's no point in haggling over what's already a decent deal for what is literally just a few bucks. The only reason you'd initiate haggling is if you really believe that $300 is absolutely way too high for a Beretta and you're gambling on the probability that the dealer will not be able to sell the gun at that price to anybody else any time soon.
>>
>>34821104
You did. Not sure what your point was but dude just shoot it don't try to buy accuracy by fucking with the trigger.
>>
>>34820932

The spring mod/upgrade is common enough that Beretta sells it on their website paired with a steel trigger which is oddly enough also a common mod/upgrade. Factory parts in a otherwise factory gun? Fuck me sideways is that what people are doing to these pistols nowadays?

http://www.berettausa.com/en-us/beretta-92-96-steel-trigger-spring-trigger-and-d-hammer-spring/e00691/
>>
>>34804069
I suggest you shoot one first.
I hated mine and traded it off.
At 50 ft you have to cover up the bullseye on the target.
I shoot indoor bullseye matches during the winter. I put the bull on top of the front blade.

Safety is located exactly where you pinch the slide to chamber a round.
Its heavy and the barrel moves at the muzzle when in battery. In other words even when new, the barrel is loose and will not return to the same spot.

Loooooong trigger travel, and did I say it was heavy?
But, $300 isnt bad if you gotta have one.
>>
>>34812527
>>34813958
Lol i wonder who wasted their money on that and kicked themselves once they realized the front sight isn't dovetail

Newer, better metallurgy.

somewhat larger aftermarket and holsters ect.

That and it never hurts to ask if he is willing to knock
Off $50-$25 if you pay cash.

Pic related I got for $325 orginal price was $375

Well it's a full slide assembly just that it seems that Beretta made an error during the manufacturing that caused the serrations to be too far back, but otherwise a fully functional assembly:
http://www.berettausa.com/en-us/beretta-slide-fully-assembled-92fs-9mm-/

...Complete assemblies usually go for $300+ so to get one with only a minor cosmetic defect for about one-third the price is a pretty good deal. They already sold out of the Vertec slides.
>>
>>34822142
I mixed up the prices. It was 399 but they gave me it for $350 with 50 rounds. And i don't think it's heavy at all.

>>34822302
