In the mid-70s a gunsmith got bored and decided to convert a parker double barrel into a double barrel 45-70.
it weighs 12 lbs and it was highly suggested that one should only shoot black powder out of it.....however i think it could smokeless. Its certainly strong enough to push the heaviest of pills down range.

A.7.62 nato isnt obselete, in fact the military is looking for a rifle to replace in the M4 with a gun chambered in 7.62 nato.
B..300 savage was designed to give .308 ballistics with less power. It is a intermediate cartridge and easy to control. It was the control for the assault caliber testing the goverment did back in the day. The caliber is effective in pretty much all loads unlike 5.56 and i think it can be easily suppresed. I am very impressed by its performance and wound channels. It could easily go through some redesign for the military(
like .308 and .223 did) and it can be hot rodded.

>>34816959
No, Rifle No.4s were parkerised but parkerisation as a technique was only just coming into being during the early 20th century and wasn't used en masse for firearms until the Second World War.
However, some rifles were stripped of their blueing and parkerised later. Plus you have civilian owners doing the same thing in cases.

Found an open, unassembled CVA mountain rifle at a garage sale. Bought it for fifty bucks. Did some research and found that the first couple years, they were made with USA Douglas barrels. This was one. Old timer must have bought it then the farm before he could build it. I finished it with chemical stock dye from The Log Cabin Shop. Browned all the steel with heat and Birchwood Casey browning solution. Many passes. Stock is rubbed BLO. Replaced all the shitty wood screws with plain steel (not plated) that I also browned. Fucker shoots like a dream.
