Lets be honest sig really fucked up here and the only thing more disconcerting than the p320 NOT being drop safe is sigs reaction to it. This free voluntary upgrade shit is disgusting.

The fact that this doesnt apply to the MHS handgun(rather specifically) combined with the fact that sig apparently already has the parts/knowledge necessary to fix the problem leads me to believe that they were knowingly selling a less safe version to civilians. Seems like a real "we're HK and we hate you" kind of moment. Wouldn't wanna put those contract bux in jeopardy...

Frankly I've been waiting for the manual safety model to become non vaporware so that i could purchase one as a mid sized carry gun. Now im seriously reconsidering that. Waiting a few years to see how the design really performs might be a better idea. Plenty of mature designs that i could use instead in the mean time.

>Frankly I've been waiting for the manual safety model to become non vaporware so that i could purchase one as a mid sized carry gun

I've never heard them say they were going to sell a version with a safety to civilians.

>leads me to believe that they were knowingly selling a less safe version to civilians

Honestly, I blame the civilian market partly for this, as it seems no one I talk to likes the idea of safeties on pistols at all. As an example, here's how my conversation when at the fun store went when I bought my P320

>So, this thing doesn't have a safety huh?
>Nope.
>Not even like, a glock style safety? Isn't that bad for a carry pistol?
>Ha ha ha, you don't need any safeties anon. Just practice proper trigger discipline and you'll be fine.
>>
Got to love the glawkfag "muh military" argument. Go ahead and try hillary your way into a contract.
>>
>>34798197
Yea imho the whole "the only safety a gun needs is your trigger discipline" idea is a meme at this point. Your average striker fired gun is functionally the same to the operator as a SAO handgun with no manual safety. They tend to be more drop safe but that isn't an inherent feature of the design as the p320 clearly demonstrates. There's a reason those have classically not been peoples first choice of serious use/duty firearms.

>I've never heard them say they were going to sell a version with a safety to civilians.
Im pretty sure they have or at least have implied such. They said something about not offering them in mass until they get larger departmental orders for them for some reason though. Pretty sure they're already being sold in one of the ban states(Ma or Ct maybe) as it was the only way to get into the market but i don't wanna buy one just to have to buy all new mags.

>"the only safety a gun needs is your trigger discipline" idea is a meme at this point"
Kind of surprising how far companies go in terms of trigger action (as demonstrated by p320), but I'm sure it increases sales. I'm also sure that balancing trigger pull and inertial discharge was just part of the development process and they didn't cover every base. I understand not wanting manual safety, but I'm definitely in favor of trigger safety or grip safety for firearms used in non-controlled situations. There should be multiple mechanisms to prevent discharge, not just a single internal firing pin safety.

Why would they drag their feet on something that's costing them some serious Flak? Its pretty apparent from the video that the problem is that the trigger is too heavy plus the problem was identified almost as soon as it happened. Besides they don't have them available at the moment, they said they will release more info about the new triggers on the 14th.

I organized its sections for SIG and then, yes, the industries, EVERYTHING. Are you scary like a baby! Ladylike! Dresses like a pumpkin. SIG could feel itself become disassociated with one ship the pistol market may die from the lad poisoning can kill animals, especially household pets. All it takes is the nicest trigger, I only way that gas out your pistol barrel while continuing to starve the SIG fans for a few days, then that day, but I cannot function in social settings unless I imagine that it is not a... caricature. It is not caricature despite adopting caricature as its visual shorthand for something that goes wrong in our consciousness and freewill for individuals as we know, and started using a mechanical blowback mechanism which was the downfall for modern firearms.. That black night, SIG did what I wish I couldn't believe I had been rolled around and publicly chastise and berate others feel like he would make HK weep. This is where could my pipe be?

I'm glad that people are waking up to this idea being a fallacy. It has its origins in the propaganda of the Glock marketing team as they were trying to aggressively expand their LE market share during the transition from revolvers. The motive for pushing it had nothing to do with performance; it was simply to keep parts count (and thus unit cost) down.

But the Beretta isn't inherently good. It's an inherently poor design. The crucial flaw in the design is it's made to be carried in condition 2. This stems from a fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose and nature of a handgun.

Well, if the Glocknade meme has shown us anything, it's that even if a gun company fixes a problem, the reputation will live on forever in the form of uninformed comments or jokes. I mean, the average nogunz probably still thinks the M16/AR is an unreliable piece of junk and that the AK aid the end all be all of reliability.

A minor issue which led to someone who dropped a holstered sig 320 shoot him in the leg. He's lucky it didn't fall a little further away and get him in the chest. Yeah, real minor.

>you won't need a tabbed safety

Kek, and on top of that tapping the slide while the gun is parallel to ground will set it off, meaning the trigger might just be the start of it.

Nothing except thousands of soldiers using them on all continents in multiple wars. Read your history. Read the firsthand accounts of soldiers whose lives were saved by the 1911.

At this point Sig might as well just fire their entire marketing department for complete redundancy.

I love my Mk25 226. It's fucking awesome. I love the rustling it generates too. SO much salt from butthurt poors :)

>>34805176
I don't get why Beretta never tried to push the Px4. It controls exactly the same as an M9, which means minimal retraining. Plus, it is a straight upgrade over the M9 in every measurable way, including cost per unit.

It seems like it would have been a fairly easy sell.
>>
>>34805406
The military probably didn't want a hammer fired pistol. All the manufacturers put forward strikers so that seems to be the way things are now.

>The crucial flaw in the design is it's made to be carried in condition 2.
All its competitors were pretty much the same. The S&W 59 has a decocker/safety and the P226 is decocker only. All three can be carried without the safety engaged.

It could have been avoided by just having the little finger tab like every single other striker fired pistol on the market has. And failures like this are pretty much impossible on guns like the 226 or 92 FS, both of which have firing pin blocks.

What are you going to do when the police responding order you to drop your weapon?
>>34805447
They should have stayed with the single action, but a bunch of careerist POG procurement officers decided it would be too dangerous to have GIs carrying cocked pistols, so they insisted on having double action. Double action is the worst thing that ever happened to auto pistol design.

I don't even think they even insisted, just about every double-action semi-auto carried that over from the P38.

The US Army post-war certainly disagree, the whole reason the Smith & Wesson 59 series exists is because the ordinance board was so impressed by it they had Smith develop the 39. It's locking block and trigger mechanism design led to the Beretta 92. The P38 is also likely why the 220 has a double action trigger despite the gun's developmental lineage being from the P210 series.
>>
>>34805550
Being a baretta fan feels like being a abused housewife but you keep coming back for strange reasons
For me it's that stock trigger
It's not amazing
But it feels just right and others have said the same
(Also the aesthetics but someone's gonna say it's the ugliest for the same reasons I'd say it's the sexiest)

These are the same people who dont clean their m9 and get mad when it fails to feed due to oil infused sand in the works. Dont try to pass this shit as fact, ive pulled a janky as fuck m9 out of the armory, cleaned it, and qual'd expert with it.
>>
>>34805176
Creep
>>
>>34806478
Cleaning was never a problem with the 1911. You could literally put 1000 rounds through it in one session (people have really done this) and it would function every time. Plastic guns will literally melt when they try to do the same. The 1911 was just a simple, utilitarian design from an era when soldiers actually used handguns for fighting rather than as a fashion accessory. Was the 1911 perfect? No. Is there room for improvement on it? Yes, but a new pistol should be an improvement on what already works, not a radical departure like the double action pistols were.
>>
>>34806545
1911 is an archaic design with shit capacity whos only pro is its SA accuracy. The only way to improve the design is toss the piece of shit into a museum where it belongs
