Why do ARs have the front sight so far back on the barrel? Why not move it to the muzzle for better sight radius?
>>34792580
The front sight is also the gas block. It needs to be in that position for the gun to cycle properly
>>34792580
Also, have you ever even held a full size ar? The sight radius is fine
>>34792634
More is better when it comes to sight radius.
>>34792620
Would it be possible to make them separate?
>>34792663
Obviously, but there's no need unless the gas block has to fit under a rail. Perhaps more would be better, but like he said, it's really just fine the way it is
>>34792580
Because then you can't attach a bayonet as designed.
It really isnt very far back (in this pic at least). That is a 20" barrel, and the gas block/front sight is about 5" back.
>>34792663
Yes, but it's much cheaper to integrate the bayo lug, front sight post, and gas block into one easily machinable piece.
>>34792580
Umm... sight radius is better the longer the difference is. Are you just saying words?
>>34792580
well
>also gas block
>also bayo lug
>balance is better
On a 20" barrel like that the sight radius is probably about 20" or so. Do you really wanna make the rifle harder to manufacture and unbalanced to get at most another 4-5" to your sight radius. Also you wouldn't be able to mount a bayonet then without developing a whole new mounting system for the rifle and the bayonet.

When your puny brain can't differentiate between rear and front sights
>>34792663
You could, but a 20" long AR15 gives you a pretty damn good sight radius.

holy fuck that isn't even english
