this is why we need to create an ammo manufacturer to protect the interests of /k/ommandos. If it was dedicated to the production of cheap Ruskie bullets, we wouldn't be threatened by political bullshit. We'd just need to make a max order size so bubba won't buy all of it and price gouge.

Hey dude, can you tell me about Mechatronics? I have been looking at it as a career change to something I might enjoy doing.

>>
>>34788198
How would one go about setting up a company to make ammunition? Specifically the casing aspect. Anybody have any good sources on the matter?
>>
>>34789785
I'll try not to write a huge paragraph but I'll expand on anything.
if you understand how cnc work in the entirety it's basically the same with alot more PLC's. of you've done maintenance on CNCs you know you're a glorified electrition, and mechatronics does not differ to much. if you're on the design side it's loads of fun, starting from scratch, programming, testing redesigning, just being an engineer. but that work is usually contrated and short lived. most of the work of at least by me in mechatronics is maintenance. then it all pretty much cnc maintenance, things are a little more diversified, and there technical property's and programming and logic mapping.
it's teadious, but not very repitive.
it really depends where you work but typically you'll make alot more doing mechatronics. smaller places you might have enough experiance to walk in and "apprentice" for a while, or learn as you go. if you go somewhere big like botch, BMW, GE you're most likely going to need at least a engineering degree.

Russia is getting sanctions imposed to hurt their trade and economy. Meaning less surplus than we already get.

And yes, ammo is cheap and plentiful for russian arms, nieve anon. But mark my words, come a year or two, and this sanction gets serious, the low cost of 30c a round will be a thing of the past for the next decade.

Either way, i really dont ive a shit what you think guy.

I was looking at land for sale earlier today out west, there's a lot of rural land that would be great to have a /k/ompound on for this kind of thing. 40ish acres for $15-20k weren't uncommon.

We could make a dwarf fortress out in Arizona and our primary export could be bullets.
>>
>>34792911
In colorado, where I live, you can buy 40 acres of desert buttfuck land for like 5 k.

It really wouldnt be a bad gig. Sure would beat the fuck out of whatever crap job i got myself into now.

I'm looking to upend my life at the moment, if I knew how to drill a well (and also had the equipment) I'd like to go out there. I have fuck all for money, but as a consequence I've developed self-sustainability skills.

However Colorado seems like it's getting too full of California types, just like Oregon and Washington. Not as bad, but I'm seeing a lot of, "I moved from <coast> to <rural area> and I don't like X, Y, and Z," online.

I was also looking at land that was hilly or steep, the piece of land I liked in AZ was right on a ridge.

Why bother making high quality budget hunting rifles when you can get an SKS for $150? ban the import of surplus rifles, problem solved.

Please learn to read, I already stated what I want to do with it twice now.
I want a compound. I want a mini fruitfarm. And / or a mini forest on a 10-20 acre plot. And a warehouse for my crafts/projects.

Russian sanctions have been lifted and renewed since the early 90s you faggots.

Look at Obama era sanctions, Clinton era sanctions and lifts and sanctions and lifts.

There is a great likelyhood.
As others have stated, theres a good chance it may NOT happen afterall. I hope not. However, the US government has already passed the bill, and sanctions are already being applied. They just havent been crystal clear as to WHAT they are banning yet. We still have time, but not lomg if this is truly the case.
But im not going to be caught with my pants down again. Im going to be on top of this little arms crisis. Worst case senario, you stock up a shitload of ammo, it never happens, and now you have a surplus of arms kibble. Win win in my book

And honestly, I think the 308 platform is poised to take off in the next 5 years. Its now in the perfect circumstance where it can grow and become widespread, as the army is finallly doing more combat testing and looking at more engineering for these rifles. Shit, the DB10 is 800$ currently. Ar platform is only getting cheaper.

And as for ar vs ak - Im currently scrambling to find a quality, original WASR10. It could be the last opportunkty we get to find slav shit for "cheap". Even if the ammo is rare in the future, its still a beautiful, functional, and practical rifle that you can shoot and enjoy. Even without an arms ban currently going, its near impossible to fimd a good AK platform rifle.

Ar platform will be around for the next lifetime or two. Theres plenty of time to find one of those cookie cutter rifles. AKMs, probably not. They are already disappearing, so now is your last chance.

Sure, theyve been lifted and renewd countless fucking times. Fine.
Either way, its going to jack up ak prices to retard strength for who knows how fuckin long, and I would just like to avoid the panic, price gouging, and other retarded mothballing that comes with an ammo/arms import resriction before it even starts.

Who knows, maybe we will get into world war 3 during sanction and we never see 7.62xsoviet again.

I do live out here. Right next to a wheat farm actually. Also, you never stated what you were going to do with your plot, unless you were some other post not tied in with this shit fest. Have you ever been outside of your city? I'm not trying to be an ass, but the majority of (other than the city) Colorado is either agriculture or livestock. A good chunk of the U.S winter wheat is grown in Colorado and surrounding areas. A lot of breweries here also benefit from the soil conditions for their ingredients, which is one of the reasons (other than chic factor ) microbreweries are so popular here.

I really wanted a mosin as my first gun, like really...but fuck that.

Let the fudds and faggots fight over table scraps. I'll chase my next best dream, a Vietnam loadout of some sort, Classic AR build, 1911, Smith and Wesson Model 19, KABAR.

Right now all I have is a paratrooper bag, but my next AR build is either going to be a XM177 clone or a A1 clone.
>>

Thanks anon, this is actually really damn close to what I was already thinking. I already have a PTR and love it but was hoping to get a lighter gun like an AK.

Honestly the two I am torn between is a DB10 and WASR lol. I guess ill do some more resrach and see where that takes me

Sorry, my apologies. Im being a twat.

Let me fully detail to you what I want.

Me and a team of 3 others are saving enough money to buy a plot of land somewhere between 10-20 acres.

From there - we plan to build a compound on this plot. Somewhere to research plants, growing them, and ride out the apocalypse if it comes. Also a workshop for forging blades, constructing instruments, and other projects, like my art.

Then, we want to plant a forest of food bearing plants on the land. I dont want the traditional "one crop farm" as these are not sustainable. Degredation of soil happens with single crop farms, and its alot of work for a seasons harvest. I want a permaculture compound. (You can look up permaculture on the internet.; its where a forest biome of different species of plants depend on eachother, and can sustain/survive without any human intervention)

The problem is, colorado has fucked up winters and its very hard to grow anything here besides corn and grain. I like berries and fruit, but they dont like cold. Also, soil remedation to support these plants will take years and lots of work. Try looking up "hugel beds" as well. Ps - im a botanist. Plants are my expertise, and I want them to have a paradise, where we live side by side. Like babylon.

Too bad colorado is a cold, fucked up desert tundra.

Also, i forgot to mention,
The zones of colorado are pretty fucking varied.
Anything north is a cold sandy buttfuck

Anything south is a hot sandy buttfuck with alot of hicks. These are the plots of land you can buy for buck naked cheap. (1000$ per acre usually.)

However, central colorado is fucking awesome.
Park county, steamboat, eagle, and fairplay are sweet. But they are much, much more expensive plots of land. They have more plant mass, better soil, and everything isnt sand/rock/clay. They also get alot colder in winter, which makes growing things outdoors nearly impossible. Especially fruit trees. It will be years before we figure this shit out, I hope we make it, but you never know.

Thats the dream anyways.

Ugh. Gross.
Ar clones and variants are ok, but 556 is just cringe worthy. I almost regret buying my ar15, but I keep it around because its a highly versatile and adaptable weapon with serious customization.

Honestly I really think you should look into a mosin nagant. In my collection, its my favorite to shoot. The ammo is stupid strong, the rifle itself is very fun to shoot (not to mention, you can generally find them for about 200$), its a beautiful piece of history, and theyre (in italics) scary accurate.

White death was a sniper who used the mosin nagant, and he had one of the highest confirmed kill counts of any shooter recorded in war. I can see why he chose this rifle.

I love mine, and I think you would too.

Ive been eyeballing ar10s for a few years now, they just get cheaper and cheaper. I feel their shining moment is not far at all. The scar17 is also a beautiful tool that should not be overlooked.

I feel sad that i decided to buy my ar first, and not an ak. The market is dying quicker than you can shit, and quality rifles are quickly being snagged up and put into collections. WASR 10 is specifically the hardest one to find for me. (Im a stickler for historical arms, so I want one from the 70s with an armory triangle).

All the modern ak copies are pure shit. Domt buy them, no matter how cheap. They just domt compair to the real thing. Arsenal is ok, but i just cant stand the synthetic crap they slapped all over them. It makes them weak and melty
>>
>>34801778
>>34801693

I'm not sure if something like a biome would be sustainable without a full crew. I'm aware of how varied the land is, I've lived all over this state my whole life. The other anon with the land seems to have it pretty good, especially with a place that's high in demand. I have a small plot of about 10 acres, 5 of which is seasonal crops. I've been lucky enough to never have to do any heavy treating, just fertilizer. Look into what kind of agriculture we do here, as a lot of it is really surprising. I believe it's our third highest export, behind chemicals and machinery.
>>
>>34801901
I'm torn, on one hand I do like the idea of a historical bolt gun, on the other hand I really just like shooting. I like going to the range and leaving a pile of brass behind without breaking the bank. I like working on my marksmanship. 5.56 is just fine for the ranges I'm shooting at, and it's cheap as fuck right now. Getting an increasingly pricey bolt gun with snowflake ammo just doesn't make sense to me. Especially if I have to race a bunch of hoarding and price gouging fudds just to get it.
>>
>>34801974
I agree the SCAR17 is an awesome gun, just out of my price range lol

And being realtivley new to the world of AKs, even i can see the market dying, sad as it is. I just wish I I could find a gun as durable as a real AK for under $1000 so hence why Im leaning towards an AR10

It is possible. This is what "permaculture" means.

Funfact: colorado has the most earthships (houses that are nesrly 100% sustainable without governemnt water/power assistance) and also the countrys leading permaculture institute is located in CO. Also in the buttfuck desert.

Ill see if I can find it, but theres a video on youtube where an expert bought desert shit land over there in iraq/afghan area, and turned it into an oasis using permaculture technique.

The modern way of farming is actually very wasteful and kind of dumb. We havent even gotten close to maximizing farming potential.

If only people would actually listen to the hippies, we would be in such a better world. But this bulk headed bullshit mentality that everyone is determined to hold on to is holding us back. Its sad.

I remember when I was young and the wasrs were everywhere. Dirt common.
Now, you can only find one or two every 5th gun show IF YOURE LUCKY.

AND thats what really makes me sad. All of these modern bullshit ak copies don't truly carry the durability and dependability that the originals carried. The wasrs (in my opinion) are the best ak you can get. Theyre simple, not over engineered, loosely thrown together, and THEY WORK. Even more so, they are a living piece of history.
Cant believe this is how the legacy ends.

And im on the edge of my seat waiting for the ar10 takeover. Its coming. I can feel it.
My theory, atleast, is to let them work on them and engineer them just a little bit more to completely work out bugs and engineering flaws. The army says that the ar10 platform needs work, and I partially agree with them. The recievers were built with a 556 in mind, not a full cartridge like a 308. Scars and FALS however, were designed for the power of the 308 from the minute of their conception. (Granted, 90% of ar10s are perfectly strong enough and will hold up to the 308, but it has been documented that over time, recievers CAN degrade and crack because of the sheer power of a 308. The recievers havent been fully converted and engineered to this yet)

Im going to can my excitement for just a few more years, and by then the 308 battle rifle ar10 configuration will be perfected. Patience is key, and their glorious day is coming swiftly.

>>34802279
A lot of the people that want that other anons land are the wasteful kind in my experience. I only have a small plot, but they still want it for poorly thought out business models, usually to try and be cool. I've seen a lot of these kind of people buy the land around me, fail, and leave a really nasty scar on the land from all the crap they brought in to start their "lol organic" farm. Must've wasted a lot of daddies money on it too, because I go over there and find tons of perfect machines left for scrap. I'm not saying you're on of them, but I think that other anon has seen a lot of that stuff too. It's becoming really common sadly.

Currently, you can get about 80 rounds for 50$.
Its not horrible, but not amazing either.
This rifle (for me) is the most accurate in my collection with iron sights. Maybe this is the bolt gun that agrees with my body the most, but I can snipe quarter sized clays out to 100 yards easily. I love practising and shooting as well, and it saddens me that if we get an ammo restriction, this rifle will be on that list. Im remaining hopeful that this isnt the case. Either way, for a 200$ rifle, its really not that bad of a trade off, no mater what happens. It will be a "grandpas gun" one day anyways.

You can always buy a 308 or 3006 in the US, theyll be around, I promise. But everybody should have atleast one exotic/foreign rifle thats fun to dick around with, in my opinion atleast.

Finding ammo for this is still easier than finding turkish mauser, or fucking 7.7. Or even worse, the correct garand ammunition. Ugh.
>>
>>34802445
Ive heard the horror stories of recievers cracking too and that did have me a bit bugged but honestly I havent been able to find any problems with AR10 recievers since the past 5-6 years.

Like I said before, Id love a WASR but for their price and scarcety(not to mention possibility of an ammo scarcety) i may hold out a bit longer and see what happnes. The same goes for the AR10. I will bide my time and do some more research and maybe go finger fuck some AR10s at the nearby LGS and see how I like them. Im in no hurry but would like a decent, dependable, durable thirty cal semi auto thats not a complete monster to carry around lol

Thanks for your input and knowledge anon, I appreaciate it
