Why? Any gains you made are pretty much lost with the second gasblock. On the otherhand it will make a lot of arfags turbo asspained so maybe it has some merit.

Since psa dissapators are so cheap was thinking about getting one swapping the handguard retainer location. mostly cause ive got a mid quadrail laying around.

I don't mind some back splash for HD since anyone on the receiving end is blind as a mother fucking and it only messes with my night vision temporarily.
I would like something I can point out on my land and see people 5-75 yards away. That may have parked and attempted to slip in on foot.

>>34781710
That or something Gen 2 plus is usable, join a bunch of FB gear or NVG groups and there are usually cheap PVS-14s everywhere. You can get a Gen 3 for around 1300 or more depends on the quality.

Consider that it is also an 800 lumen visible/whited LED, and has coaxial lasers, and a laser based IR illuminator.
It's a single device solution, not additional mounts, switches, or vampire surefire required. When you factor in all those costs, it's probably cheaper, and much more streamlined/optimized.
I'd probably have a RAPTAR for the same reason, if Wilcox didn't charge used car prices.
I already trust Asians to make my expensive rifle glass (Vortex, Bushnell Elite, Nikon, Burris, et al), might as well trust them with electronics too.

Lazy fuck here, does anyone make more than an "80% lower" but not yet a firearm? I am comfortable with hand tools but would would like to do as little as possible for sake of simplicity. I assume one of the jigs these companies sell is pretty much required are they proprietary in some way or will they work with and non-completed lower?
Any advice would be highly appreciated.
>>34784212
No %80 is the farthest you can go without making it a firearm
>>34784212
If you're that lazy, why not just go get a finished lower?
>>34784212
Nope wouldnt be legal and you missed the biscuit lowers that were around in like 2012
>>34784212
So why not machine a full lower, then pour some plastic into the trigger pocket, so when it dries it renders it non operable. Then to remove the plastic, you just dig it out with a knife or something simple (metal tab in plastic to just pull it out?). Then there's no machining aluminum on the users end.
Would this be legal?
>>34784206
are they using manlets for photo ops? it looks so big on them
>>34784226
Stationed overseas for the next couple years and it is simpler to just order some chunks of aluminum to work on when I get back home.

>>34784258
It'll probably just be easier to wait until you get home and then go and buy the lowers then.
>>34784258
Those are %80 lowers they probably call them %95 lowers so retards will buy them
>>34784258
looks like the machine out the recess for the rear lug of the upper, otherwise the same as an 80%
dont know why they think that amount of machining is worth 15%
I have a plain Jane AR with a mid length has system and a 16 inch barrel. My arms are long and I would like a full length handguard, 15 inches, that I can put attachments on but is NOT quad rail.
What are the ARG approved options?
Anons, I have an 18inch rainier arms ultramatch fluted sdm style barrel lying around, and im finally gonna build an upper for it. What gas length should I go, rifle, intermediate, or mid. I already have a geissele mk8 that came with a gas block, I just need to pick out a tube length which I will get from rainier. This will be a sort of precision recce build. My concerns are not being able to cycle training ammo such as m193 if I go with a rifle length because I might use this for 3 gun and classes if the balance feels good.
>>34784472
geissele, seekins
>>34784258
Pretty certain its easier to take 15min to purchase a full lower than to build your own.
>>34784476
Your gas length is determined by the barrel, unless there exist barrels with multiple gas ports I'm unaware of.
>>34784472

its fine. could try an H2 buffer to get it to run smoother but itll work with a standard carbine buffer
>>34784709
What would be the issue with using a standard one? Increased wear?
>>34784718
>Increased wear?
supposedly yeah. rifle gas is able to function well with a much heavier buffer so itd be worth it to add some weights to get to H2 spec to tone down the recoil. may as well get the rifle gas smoothness if you're going to have a rifle upper. the leaf c7 supposedly have an H2 buffer in them
http://i22.servimg.com/u/f22/16/12/92/34/600px-10.jpg
>>34784737
This is what I was thinking. Guess I'll get an H2 then. I didn't know whether it or an H3 might be better.
>>34784759
id suggest just buying some tungsten weights so you can try out H2 and 3 without buying the whole buffers individually
>>34784776
I've got a second build I'm working on anyway, I'll need extras.
Where would I get the weights individually anyway?
>>34784782
all over. amazon prime, kak has them for as low as $7, brownells, maybe even your LGS. geissele wants $20 per weight which is obscene.
>>34784810
Is there something wrong with them to be $7

That wasn't the intent when the law was created. That's what the $200 was supposed to do, but $200 is nothing these days and the federal government is already woefully incapable of doing anything expediently so they use wait times to discourage nfa ownership.
I'm sure they're perfectly capable of implementing a system that works like the NICS check for a 4473 to be used with a form 1 or form 4, even one that could be submitted electronically and approved instantly, but that would simply make too much sense and be far too efficient.
>>34785017

yeah for mid/carbine length gas systems. Rifle length is a whole other beast.
the M16A1 barrel print specs the port at .092" +.001, -0.
I can easily see .100 on a rifle length at 18"
