If you want to go the milsurp route a 1903 or 1917 would fit well.
Winchester 92 in 30-30 is probably the pinnacle of fudd besides something in 30-06.

If you want to get truly fudd-tier, get a sexy SxS or O/U shotgun in 12ga or 20ga (sexy engravings and story about great grandpa optional but encouraged), a break-open rifle in a bizarre, obscure cartridge (bonus points for express rounds, nitro or otherwise) or a bolt-action in .308, .30-06, .303 or .300 (but not 7.62 or .338), and a revolver in the dumbest caliber you can. Maintain all of these weapons meticulously, but still do everything wrong, never modify any of them, and N E V E R use a scope.

I have a 1897 trench gun. Great shotgun. The slamfire is amazing.

Funny you'd say that, bc all the fudds I've met in sc will Bubba up their rifle (regardless or rarity and value) removing the irons and put a shit scope on them.

Ammo commonality is also pretty important to me. I hate not being able to shoot a gun cause it only takes snowflake ammo.

Rem 870 shotgun is the Chevy small block of shotguns, but for blasting fun its hard to beat a pre-1973 Ithaca Model 37

You left out a break action shotgun, preferably in 20 ga;, a bolt action .410 with a 3 round box mag; a 12 ga. O/U; a single shot .22 rifle; a Single Six; a SA wheelgun in something like .32-20; a revolver in .357, .44, or .41 Mag; and an inherited milsurp pistol of some flavor.

Higher income Fudds will have a Weatherby and a T/C Contender with a half dozen barrels. These will be the only guns in the collection with glass mounted. Unless there's a Rem 700 BDL in .22-250. That thing will have a scope the size of an oil drum.

Oh, one other thing- you were off when you listed Tikka. A Fudd will have a Sako, but Tikka is a little too much like selling out.

Bolt action milsurp is fudd as hell. Invariably bought with the intention of converting it into a beater hunting gun. A lot of times, that never happened.

I'm old enough to remember my lgs having cardboard barrels full of Euro milsurp bolt guns, $99 to $129 each. Next aisle over would be GI rifle racks full of M-1 carbines, Garands, and assorted 03s. Break action shotguns, too. The 'good' civilian guns were behind the counter, pistols were under glass in the counter.

Up until about 1988, California was decent for gun laws. I miss those days.
