The problem with gun-grabbers is that they don't want a compromise.

I'll present you compromise which I don't necessarily agree with but it's a compromise. Copy laws Czech Republic has. You have to get a license(which works like dealer license for dealer's sample machineguns - you can use them and somebody else can use them if you are in their general vicinity) for owning and carrying guns, and separate CCW license. Both are shall issue and require you to prove that you're not a felon(you can get statement like that from the police) and then pass legal and practical tests. Can't get any of those if you aren't citizen.

And from now on, you have no background checks(obviously if you commit felony you get your license revoked), there's no ATF - you can get your suppressors and SBR's if you want them, stocks on a pistol are something that happens from the time(for example for Desert Eagles in .50). Quite decent self-defense laws too. Full autos require separate license which is possible to get... if you're a collector.

Now the thing is, gun grabbers don't want to introduce Czech-like gun law. They want to add even more restrictions to the current law code, force it on people who want less restrictions and call it compromise.
