Sao Tome and Principe

This is the place to take over. A small west african island nation on the equator. It's tropical and has oil. The government's forces are barely armed, and only have obsolete slavshit. The worst they can bring out is a 20mm on a light wheeled apc. Which they don't have many of. total population is 60000.

once we clear out the natives. By rifle or by deportation. we invite in educated whites still in south africa or zimbabwe. we ask the USA to let us join the Compact of Free Assocation. they build a US navy/marine base on the island. we can even let the british military be part of that base. so they have a logistics point in case the falklands need liberating again.

build a fancy resort. then the next time oil prices are up. we use the profits to build a space port. the islands positions giving advantage for launches.

>OMG GUIS ITS SO HARD TO FIND A PLACE IN THE WORLD TO TAKE OVER BY A FORCE OF /K/OMMANDOS!

No shit Sherlock? All the easy land was taken by countries well before 1900. You're only option is to build an artficial floating island in the middle of international waters in the Pacific if you don't want to be fucked with. But even then if you make drugs, weapons, or other "bad" things expect the worlds navies to sink your shit.

The idea of somebody at the level of /k/ forming a new stable nation in this day and age is absurd. You would need hundreds of millions of dollars if not billions and thousands of young men willing to die for your cause.

You will never have either.

>>34764786
>The worst they can bring out is a 20mm on a light wheeled apc

Do you know where to source 20mm cannons and APCs? Will they sell to you? Do you have boats to transport them? Do you have RPGs if not?

No?

Then guess what, you get BTFO by the skinnies even if every man is armed with a .50cal.

It doesn't sound good...

You intend to displace 60000 people from a place that has police and armed forces in place using what, 50-100 volunteers from an internet forum?

In my opinion your best bet is an island in the pacific. If you're feeling lazy, plenty of them are disused US Navy outposts with structures intact, but going to one of them will probably anger the US.

Hang on, let me find you some examples.

given the small size of the Sao Tome defense forces. a coordinated first strike using only small arms and improvised explosives/incendiaries could take out their heavy weapons and armored vehicles.

we can also just make high ranking people in their police and defense forces into assets. we decapitate the current government. then partnering with them we overthrow the government. give free birth control and abortions the locals and employ the women away from home. this will crash the skinny's birthrates. while we also bring in educated whites and encourage them to have 3 children.

As I said before, if you really wanted to do this I think an island in the pacific would be your best bet. They're all claimed by someone or incorporated in some "protection scheme", but frankly there are so many of these islands and i don't know if they're patrolled by anyone (unless they're part of the US, in which case the Fish and Wildlife Service patrols them every now and then.

The best candidate that I could find in my 10 or so minutes of looking is called "Nikumaroro Island". There are a few reasons I think it's the best one;
1) It's uninhabited. This means potential settlers won't have to deal with (compromise with or displace) any locals. This spares settlers all kinds of headaches that should be fairly obvious.
2) It has a good amount of trees and bushes growing on it for wind protection. From the satellite images it looks to be limestone or old coral, so it's not just a sand bank (they tend to move).
3) It has an accessible lagoon. This provides safe anchoring for boats (for the first settlers but also for trading vessels), and possibly even seaplanes if they can land and stop in under 3.3 miles.
4) It's relatively remote, the nearest inhabited village will be about a 1.5-2 day sail away. This puts the settlers out of the way of locals but not so far away as to discourage trade or excursions.
5) It has good potential for an airstrip on land.

I love discussions like these even though I'd probably never partake in colonising it. I'd come visit with my boat though.

>>
>>34765178

>>
>>34765239
Not really, your idea of occupying one of very few development-friendly parts of Somalia close to one of the worlds biggest shipping lanes didn't sound good in theory. The other guy who proposed occupying an island of some 60,000 inhabitants with an established police- and military force didn't sound very good either.

I'd be happy to hear criticism of my idea with the island (>>34765178), in the meantime I'm going to work up a proposal plan for development because I enjoy these things.
>>
>>34765178
I don't mean to burst bubbles, but what are you going to trade?
Take a look at Tuvalu, if you will - It's also a wee bitty island in the Pacific, but aside from some tourism (Think they got a whooping two hotels or summin), most of the money comes from relatives of the inhabitants working on (foreign) ships and sending money back home.
That said, my contract on the ship I worked on ended two months before I could make AB, so if you offered me a spot on a boat I'd be all over that motherfucker in an instant.
I suppose there's also the matter of tropical storms and tsunamis wrecking the island.from time to time. How well is it situated, re: that? How high above sea level is it? Taking a guess, it's not very much. Once again, I'll point to Tuvalu, which will be very fucked if the sea level rises much more.

First draft of proposed development plans. With regards to #7 I'm no master tactician so input on that is appreciated, as well as input on the whole thing. For fun of course.

I should point out that solar power has come very far, it wouldn't be difficult powering a settlement like this with solar panels. There are plenty of reverse-osmosis watermakers that run off 12 or 24v, some producing up to 32 gallons (120 litres) of fresh water per hour.

>>34765458
Sorry I should have clarified, I was talking about very basic trade like I suppose the locals engage in. Goods for goods. If the settlers do a spot of fishing they could trade that for a source of carbohydrates that the locals have, taking some load off the settlers with regards to farming. At least in the very beginning before power and water infrastructure of any sort has been established.

I'm not sure about the elevation, it's probably like most islands around there and as you say if there's a tsunami the settlers would have to start from scratch. Regarding tropical storms, I think it's one of the better places to sit one out. There seems to be heavy vegetation on the island that would provide shelter from big winds (see pic). The vegetation also helps the island "stay in place" to some extent I think. This is why they're busy planting shrubbery around the multi-million dollar beach houses on Long Island in NY, it keeps the beach there so the house doesn't drift into the ocean.

Actually, here's an updated version of it.

The prevailing wind is from the north-east, so I changed the orientation of the runway to enable takeoff/landing into the prevailing wind.

3000 feet is still plenty for most aircraft that could be expected to land there. For example, a Cessna Caravan has a takeoff distance of around 2000 feet.

>>34765458
With regards to rising sea levels the island will probably be submerged in 70 or 80 years but we'll all be dead by then so I didn't really factor that in to be honest.

Pretty much all islands are part of some kind of conservation/protection program now.

One alternative could be to colonize an island where poaching or other bad-for-the-environment things are common, and vow to work against that if we're left alone to govern ourselves.

That could be a way to accomplish this without getting insanely bad publicity globally. Also, we may find a use for our funs apart from shooting coconut crabs.

primitive natives are usually atrocious at fighting

the natives in Guinea would shit on arrows, walk out to a field, yell at each other, shoot some arrows, and then both sides would leave once a few of them got hit. The victims on both sides would then die of infection, and their families would swear a debt of blood, and this would restart the cycle of shit-arrow-flinging.

They did this for thousands of years. The Aztecs, a bloody society built on war, got completely wiped out by a handful of conman adventurers with arquebus and horses.

We would need anti aircraft systems as a back up, in case they get interested. I would also highly advise a large quantity of technicals for provision procurement and inter-tribal warefare.

Setting sail with weapons is not an issue if they're legal in your country. The big problems when sailing with weapons come when you're trying to clear into a foreign port with different firearm laws.

That being said, in this hypothetical situation we wouldn't be clearing in anywhere, there is no customs office on North Sentinel. There isn't even anywhere to land, really. Pic related (north-western corner of the island).

multiple country's waters... you mean the US and India? You would have to run about 14 miles of Indian ocean under-the-radar - far from the coast of actual India - which would be trivially easy.

Should find a way to buy it off the US government and go independent.

the runway is still there and servicible. Along with some underground structures on the minor islands. it was used to dispose of chemical and biological weapons during the cold war.
>>
>>34767398
There are like 40-60 people living on Midway Atoll.

One possibility is to land on Johnston Atoll. It has a 9000-foot runway and is dredged to accommodate warships, so access by plane or boat is no problem.

There is an issue, however, as it was used for nuclear weapons testing in the 50s, 60s and 70s (and had a rocket malfunction and explode, covering the whole island in plutonium) and chemical weapons disposal in the 90s. There's a landfill somewhere on the main island where they buried all the plutonium and some of the ashes from incinerating the chemical weapons, but if one just stayed away from that it should be fine.

Apparently it's possible to get a permit to visit, so the contamination can't be that bad. Just bad enough for /k/ to live out their S.T.A.L.K.E.R dreams I imagine.

On a scale of 1-10, how mad would the United States Fish and Wildlife Service be about someone setting up camp there?

No, it was a steam powered cargo ship. The big round thing in the middle is the boiler I think. Steam shipwrecks usually deteriorate like this, the boiler lasts way longer than the hull, it's pretty cool.

Son, that garrison of 94 people probably doesn't count the DDG assigned to patrol the waters around the island.
Or the aircraft stationed at the airfield.
About half of that population are probably combatants (the others being skilled technicians to keep the ordnance and aircraft in working order). That leaves 47 blueballed airmen/Marines that haven't seen any fucking action since they've been assigned to that island.
Any attack on the island with the intention to land troops and CAPTURE THE FUCKING SILO will be equivalent to slathering their dicks in BBQ sauce and sticking them balls deep into a ratel den.

Setting up an expedition and colonizing the island won't be cheap either. The question is whether we save money on the colonization and sustaining the colony by buying an island closer to civilization, or if squatting on an island in bumfuck nowhere is more cost-effective.

Agreed.

Sticking with my original plan of Nikumaroro Island (>>34765755), I think something like pic related would be perfect to have, both for dredging and transporting vehicles.

Tow it behind the other vessel and load things like bulldozers and cars on it. They're usually rated to carry around 200 tons as well as massive amounts of fuel. Could be used to dredge the lagoon in that island to accommodate deep draft vessels.

This particular one was $250k but I'm sure you could find cheaper. It had a bunch of other equipment on it.

there are probably 6 MPs on the island total. they would be the only ones armed. Normally only a m9 and maybe a shotgun or m4 in the truck.

any other arms would be locked up in the arms room. the ammo would be locked up separately.

charter and airplane and fly to wake island. declare an emergency and reroute to land at wake. the day shift MPs will be there with the initial response to your landing. wearing level II armor. so you can shoot them right away. then you take their truck and rush to the MP station and the arms room. jam their duty radios and use suppressors. so you can get to the MP station before they are aware. quickcuff everyone and round them up into the airport terminal.

the fort hood shootings lasted 10 minutes each. that was on a base where dozens of armed MPs are patrolling and federal civilian police at the gates.

Huge amount of plastic scrap to build with is a definite plus and gives you a reason to be there in the first place. Can someone get me more info about this island? I feel like we just skipped a potential gold mine.
