So, I was thinking...
How would one obtain an anti-tank rifle? How expensive would it be? How much are rounds?
I think it'd be fun to shoot even 1 or 2 rounds in a weekend, just for shits and giggles.
I'd imagine this would be a very expensive, but how expensive? How readily available are rounds for something like this?

Here go, this will answer all your questions!
Don't thank me, I'm happy to help!
Depends on the gun.
Anzio's go for around 15k-20k. The ammo is something like 150 a shot.
.50bmg rifles are a lot cheaper though, but are far from considered "anti-tank". You can use them to disable, but not really kill a tank.
I assume .50 BMG doesn't meet your requirements? Clearly not useful against modern tank armor, even with the most penetrating ammo, but I would assume you aren't actually trying to penetrate a tank.

even a 20mm is far from anti-tank these days.
>>34756449
Doesn't mean they aren't "anti-tank" rifles. An Anzio or Lahti is still an "anti-tank rifle" whether it can fuck up a modern war machine or not.

it's just a bit of a misnomer as they were pretty much obsolete as quickly as they were fielded. he wants a honking big gun, not something that can actually knock out a tank.
>>34756590
That's kinda what I got. And the first thing that came to my mind was the anzio. But there are others. I feel like they're more expensive to shoot though.

it boils down to what are you looking for, what's your budget and how much are you looking to spend per shot?
there are some choices out there

You guys are pretty much on point. Don't really want to take down a tank, but I want a gigantic round to go down range. Maybe a single loader or something.
I figure a budget under $5k would be nice. The rounds are what really kill me, I want to shoot this crazy thing, not have to search all day for a $100 round.

Nigga the driver's viewing block on the Leo2a6 is proofed against 30mm autocannon fire.
In the same vein as this, I want a .50 bmg single shot rifle. I think I could make one pretty cheap because I'm tight with a guy with a machine shop. Anyone got any designs on hand, really don't want to enter that into my search history.
> the SSK industries .950 JDJ. It’s the biggest centerfire rifle ever made.
>With a 2400 grain bullet, propelled by 240 grains of powder, the JDJ is comparable to a World War I-era tank round or a 20mm cannon in terms of kinetic energy.
No destructive device stamp needed, and rounds are $40/ea.

What era of tank? For WW1, just reload 8mm mauser bullets backwards.
wa la!
>>34758700
you may want to consider a black powder cannon in that case, if josh pops in he made a 20mm and could have some tips on doing it on the cheap.

being on /k/ is orders of magnitudes worse than searching for a .50 pdf.
