Rock climber and experienced shooter who's issued a .40 here, no it's not. Try shooting a .40 one handed or in your off hand. Wrist strength doesn't have much to do with it, your follow up shots are what's going to suffer regardless. What's exaggerated is the need to shave .1 seconds off your follow up shots.

10mm is a /k/ meme, people don't actually get that caliber which is why there's like 4 guns that shoot it. It's very similar to .40 (its successor), they're identical except for like 2mm difference in the case length. Just get what's cheaper and more common. 40 cal guns are going for a steal right now.

With everything I've come across I still think 9mm is the best, most versatile civilian round. Cost, commonality, available platforms, ease of use, and capacity are what it comes down to.
