The entire bridge attack with the Flight Type Gouf is fantastic, the ambush on Topp's Zaku team is amazingly done, and Eledore operating the beam rifle of a beheaded mass-production type is suspenseful as all hell.

Look, I'm not gonna sit here and tell you that 08th MS is the best gundam series, or even close. OG is amazing, and both War in the Pocket and 0083 are outstanding, easily better. All I'm saying is that the unique setting and storyline of 08th deserves credit. Also the bonus episode is trash, I will give you that 100%

Thank you! Plus, let's be honest here, it's refreshing to see the gundam setting established as something other than "Who has the bigger sword" trope that pretty much every other series goes by. The writers recognized that the mobile suit could be treated as just another weapon of war, allowing for more emphasis on characters while keeping combat interesting (not to say that they did a good job with the former). I don't like all this newtype, "spirit of the gundam" bullshit. It was nice in the original series, but by the time we got to ZZ and Zeta it was just a stupid meme shoehorned in just to advance the plot, or provide some to begin with. During the final fight there are no MSes on the entire colony other than Bernie's Zaku and the Alex. The Alex has no extra armor and the only weapon the Alex has is 500 rounds in the right arm with the left arm being empty, the vulcans being empty and there being slight damage to the v fin. Also I am pretty sure Chris is left handed as the only time you see the Alex using the right arm is when shooting Bernie during the last fight. Both times the Alex draws the sward (though she doesn't use it the first time) it is left handed.

So basically the Kampfer took out all the back up, destroyed the chobham armor, and wasted the ammo forcing Chris to use her weaker arm to shoot during the fight
