You fucked up OP.

Solution is to buy a second 1911 from a company that doesn't attempt to fuck over gun owners while this one gets relegated to abuse and shooting it innadesert.

Springfield paid money to and had their chief executive oversee the "Illinois Firearms Manufacturer's Association" that supported a gun control law in Illinois after negotiating an exemption for Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms.

The same Association also donated very heavily to election campaigns of antigun politicians.

Mosts corporations do that, I honestly don't see anything wrong with it. If say the NRA does this then that would be fucked up. But again Springfield Armory is just a corporation that happens to sell guns.

Not only that but they also apologize which I think is very humbling of them. And if I had a choice between them and Kimber or RIA, I would gladly pick SA. They have the best 1911s at this price segment.

How is Smith & Wesson in any way anti-gun? Because they put locks on their revolvers?

You realize they got bought up by a lock company right? It's not like they donated to anti-gun politicians like Springfield did (does?)

It might have to do with why they put the locks on their revolvers in the first place Collusion with the Clinton administration in order to get safety measures passes that SW had a jump on.

For revolvers, Dan Wessons and surplus Manurhins(even beat up ones) shit all over ruger's "durability" and have infinitely nicer better triggers and overall craftsmanship on top of looking nicer at a lower price point.

For auto pistols, take your pick. CZ, Beretta, Glock, HK, they all look nicer than Rugers in their own way. Just look at this vomit. People shit on glocks for being ugly, but this is everything wrong with glock times 5.

I could go on if you'd like.
>>
>>34742011
DW is quite a bit more expensive than Ruger though. Ruger makes decent .22's, pocket .380's, 1911's, and revolvers when it comes to handguns. Their modern centerfire pistols are all pretty garbage, so I agree with you there.
>>
>>34742000
Source: your ass

They got bought up for a song by Saf-T Hammer in 2001. They began adding locks several months later.

>>
>>34742032
It's almost like things like major acquisitions and SEC filings take time.
>>
>>34742027
Used ones are commonly in the $400 to $500 range. A new one will run about 1k, which is $200 more than Rugers' closest equivalent, the redhawk, but will still be far and away nicer and prettier than anything ruger produces imo.

You're right about their .22's. I would probably go for a CZ first though.

I don't like how their .380 LCP has a lock. It seems like a shitty thing to have to deal with. If I'm not going to buy modern S&W with one, I'm definitely not going to buy a Ruger with one.

Their 1911s are fine quality, they just have that gaudy eagle tattooed one it.

Actually (most of) their guns are perfectly serviceable. They're just ugly as fuck and there's nothing special about them otherwise.
>>

Small hole on the right side. Above and to the left of the "R" in Ruger. Though googling this image it looks like some of them may not have it. Speaking of which, many Ruger revolvers also have locks hidden beneath the grips. These aren't as obnoxious as the S&W locks, but I'd still rather they weren't there.

Those guns are only for fucktard states like CA and MA etc although you can order them everywhere if you want one. As far as revolvers Ruger did try sticking internal locks in several years ago, but they actually listened to their customers(unlike S&W) and took them out again pretty quick. There is no mention of internal locks on any of the instruction manuals hosted on their product pages.

Also Dan Wesson revolvers ain't all that. They are good quality, but because they were never produced in large quantities and are somewhat rare people seem to think they were some uber quality gun like a Manhurin/Python/Korth. They're not. I owned a DW pistol pack for over a decade. It's a quality piece but nothing above and beyond a S&W from the same era.

American Pistol was a capitulation to the Army pistol contract bidding. It's going away before it's even here. The real ruger pistols are the 9E and the SR series.

SR has some serious aestethics issue, loaded chamber indicator, massive billboards, etc. 9E is a bit more rugged looking and isn't covered in terrible safety warning bullshit. Lastly, the LC9s is my all time favorite pocket pistol. I mean I loves my baby browning, but that .25 caliber is worst caliber.
>>
>>34741385
Springfield name was lincese in the 60's or somewhere around that time.
>>
You could probably bitch to SA about it and maybe they will do something. It is literally a non issue though, anyone saying something about lapping compound or the gun wearing out is a fucking retard. Just shoot a hundred rounds though it and the issue will be resolved and will not get any worse...my norinco has a 1/4 inch wide 2 1/2 inch long wear mark starting exactly where your wear mark is and it goes all the way to the muzzle. It has been there since I bought it and has never gotten worse.
>>
>>34748895

What does this even mean? How was it a "capitulation"? Did the Army demand that they build it and Ruger reluctantly agreed? Why wasn't it submitted for the pistol trials then?

Not him, but basically every gun maker and their grandma and dog were making a pistol to submit for military trials...it's basically a lottery due to back door dealing politics but sometimes guns are chosen on their merits, some gun makers are more serious than others...watch Forgotten Weapons, tgey have plenty of videos on piatols that are made simpily to submit to US or British trials. Some make token offerings, sone really put their heart and soul into it.

Ruger made the American just to give tge M&P some domestic competition because some cigar chomping general or senator might promote the M&P simpily because it's made in the USA even if better pistols exist.

Ruger was not seriously thinking they'd win, but was basically doing a "Consider the Following" and who knows maybe the'd win but they didn't and now the "American" is dead or they are going to roll in a gen 2

Springfield Armory is just a name that was licensed in 1974 and has no direct association with the original military weapons.

Pretty sure their supply of Brazil parts are used up by now... but maybe you're not so lucky.

FBI Springfield are literally Les Baers. At the time he was a small fry and did the work under contract for Springfield. Literally unless you must own a double stack just get a Les Baer.

Ruger has fucked up time and time again and has been so late to the game it's not even funny. The P series was meant to be the weapon of law enforcement 5 years after Glock had a market presence.
