Why does THAAD make China, Russia, and North Korea so angry?

Supposedly it doesn't even work that well.
>>
>>34738487
Because it actually works very well.
>>
>>34738487
It's not THAAD itself that makes them angry
It's the solidification of the American presence in East Asia
>>
>>34738501
Against terminal-stage ICBM warheads?

Huh who wouldve guessed?
>>
>>34738520
>how dare you support your allies! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>34738542
Is this really all that different from simply making the same missile system and then selling it to them?
>>
>>34738546
Like the Cuban Missile Crisis, right?
>>
>>34738487
>Supposedly it doesn't even work that well.

no nub nut, who what it does THAAD is extremely good

china has really limited number of warhead with rather low readiness rate so thaad would make massive dent in their first strike/deterent (even more) capability

for nk- hey guys you had that one ibcm ? ups now its gone now

russians are russians you can assume few things its either they preyed they are still super power and can stick dicks where ever they like or there nuclear capability is so deteriorated thaad would make real difference in case of exchange, i like to think its mix of both
>>
>>34738555
well russia actively wanted war with the US, so they were an actual thread. plus its okay if you win
>>
>>34738555
Except in this case it's a missile defense system, and not missiles themselves. So it's actually HOW DARE YOU MAKE IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR US TO NUKE YOUR ALLIES!"
>>
>>34738501
Yea againsed a singe warhead, factor in the multiple warheads what modern icbms split into and it works a lot less
Then remember that russia could just launch a bunch of fake warheads or even baloons with each actual warhead and its failed compleatly
>>
>>34738555
But ABMs are purely defensive.
>>
>>34738581
just use a bunch of them
>>
>>34738582
>>34738580

abm shifts the balance and gives edge
look up how nuclear tensions went in cold war and what would have happened if mad was broken
>>
>>34738580
>>34738582
Fortifying a beachhead is an aggressive action as it allows for future power projection

Kek! They're more than welcome to install their own abm systems in allied countries(though that would involve having allies in the first place, kind of difficult when you're a dick and you neighbors all hate you). This is something only aspiring aggressors would be salty over.

dear god, you are special kind of stupid

china already got half of africa in its pocket,
here is the thing you should worried and your should be worried a lot as chinese plan is not to wage war, but out last everyone and if western world will not unfuck itself you maybe force to speak chinese in your lifetime
>>
>>34738810
Nice worthless post, too bad it nothing to do with the thread.

Just put Chinese Iskander near the border. Koreans will go polish.

Have you tried googling it? There are several analyses, including something from a Chinese whitepaper and something else from 38 North.

It sounds like Chad and they are buttmad from always losing to Chad.
>>
>>34738840
nigger, you better not be serious
>>
>>34738581
Well, then THAAD is useless and there is no reason for them to be so upset.

America is the chad of nations.
>>
>>34740003
>The virgin ballistic missile
>The Chad THAAD
>>
>>34738487

It's more the radar coverage they're concerned about than it's ability to intercept missiles and/or warheads.
>>
>>34738577
>russia actively wanted war with the US
Wrong.
The USSR after Stalin kicked the bucket went into full on "turtle up and supply our friends" mode.
They had only retaliation plans put into place, no "first move" operations at the forefront of the leaderships minds.

>>34738582
Not necessarily.
THAAD, like the SM missiles, can be placed into a rudimentary (compared to their main function or air defense) Surface-to-Surface attack mode.
Hell, even Frances shitty Mistral SHORAD missiles can do this now.
>>
>>34740169
It has absolutely nothing to do with any of what you said. They are scared that if THAAD moves in next door he will steal their womenz.
>>
>>34738612
>thinks MAD was ever a thing

jej

just kys kiddo
>>
>>34740222
THAAD ? MORE LIKE CHAAD AMIRITE ?
>>
>>34740123
Does this make nuclear warheads Stacey's?

I.e beta ballistic missiles carry them around and support them while CHAAD destroys them
>>
>>34740247
yes, MAD became a thing when first reliable icbm became a thing, you seem to get definition of MAD from discovery channel
don't worry, soon you will discover wikipedia and your life will change for ever, you may even learn something about stuff and things
>>
>>34740123
Chad thaad should be an offical nickname
>>

lol we should worry about the nigger tribes being allied with the Chinese?

>>
>>34742498
The locals might be dumbasses, but they're dumbasses sitting on top of vast amounts of rare earth metals that are critical to modern day technology. Yeah, sure, gold is in the mix, but it's the weird sounding ones that power your computers, iPhones, fighters, missiles and so forth. Same goes for Afghanland - the soviets realized way back when the same exact thing. They just couldn't secure it.
>>
It's because according to the START treaties you weren't even supposed to have them, let alone deploy them outside continental USA
>>
>>34738601
>you build one extra thadd missile for however much
>can be countered by basic flack
Hmmmmmm
>>
>>34738555
Sure, had the Soviets been deploying long-range early warning radars and missile defences, not IRBMs.
>>
>>34738581
>russia
That's your problem right there. All modern US ABM defences aren't designed to disallow Russian deterrence, but rather to raise the bar of nuclear capability needed to sit at the big boy's table- a single nuclear warhead on a big missile isn't enough when THAAD and AEGIS exist, so Nork and Iran can't credibly threaten the US with nuclear annihilation. The Russian (and to an extent the Chinese) arsenal can punch through easily, so their deterrent capability is unharmed.
>>
>>34740281
Sounds about right
>>
>>34738487
It breaches SALT
>>
North Korea is angry because of obvious reasons, it cancels out their ballistic missiles.

Russia is angry because they are perpetually butthurt at the US and anything they do.

China is angry because THAAD has a god tier radar that can spy on their missile/aircraft tests in the region.

>>

why do people keep talking about america if they hate it so much?
>>
>>34744877
Because those missiles would be directly responsible for the deaths of millions if used.
>>
>>34740311
MAD was never official policy, and any pretense of it died soon after ICBMs came into play.

As a missile defense system it actually is show to work. Not against massive salvos but against small strikes with low numbers of warheads. So every small member of the nuclear club really has nothing.

For bigger opponents of the US they are in a cleft stick.

Russia has to commit to end of the world level of attack to get any use out of their missiles. They have to maintain more of them and spend resources on them which keeps them at the fly/train/sail Russian super sophisticated military assets at about 20% of the rate their potential enemies do. For example their operations in Syria are a significant part of their operational overseas force projection.

China has less than 300 nuclear weapons (including ICBMs)
One THAAD battery typically operates nine launch vehicles each carrying eight missiles, with two mobile tactical operations centres (TOCs) and a ground-based radar (GBR). One THAAD battery could counter essentially all of Chinas ICBM forces since they are less accurate and have a lower readiness.

Imagine you have a really shitty kid. Imagine that kid is only so shitty because you and your partner raised them to be really shitty. You had tons of chances to let the kid be normal, but you insisted on teaching them all sorts of shitty lessons and putting shitty ideas in their head. They're your perfect little shitlet.

Now some cool kid from next door shows up and starts trying to get your kid to stop being shitty to the other kids on the block. He's a bully, but your shitty kid just won't stop being so shitty. So what do you do? Let the bully kick your shitty kid around a bit with no real hope of them getting any less shitty, or do you get pissed off because some little jerk is messing with your precious shit-spawn?

There's no right answer here; it's just context.
