As someone who thinks the P250 is a criminally underrated gun and someone who has no interest in 1911's, keep the Springfield. It is a better value, you can find P250's for less than $400

The P250 is an oddball of a gun. It's a true DAO, like a revolver. People hate on it because it's got a trigger...like a revolver. For pure speed shooting, a striker fired gun like the Glock or P320 and a SAO such as the 1911 will be quicker and easier to shoot but the P250 like all other DA triggers such as DA/SA and LEM have an advantage in being a "street" trigger.

Split times will in theory, be faster with a striker or single action trigger, split times being the time inbetween a shot but a revolver and the P250 can be shot at speed if you do your part.

The Gen 1's were plagued with issues and when Sig finally fixed it with the Gen 2, everyone stopped caring and went to Glocks and other striker fired guns, leaving the P250 in obscurity. More serious shooters find that shooting double action pays dividens in improving their overall trigger control, the double action trigger is much more unforgiving of sloppy trigger manipulation and requires deliberate practice to master. Luckily for the P250, it has a very good double action trigger pull.

People will tell you the P320 is better and the P250 sucks but it all depends on what you want. Want something you can shoot fast in say competition? P320 all the way. Want a defensive handgun you can safely reholster via thumbing the hammer, being less likely to discharge the weapon in a stressful situation or being able to stop in the middle of a trigger press when all of a sudden something you need to shoot turns into something that doesn't need a bullet? P250.

If you don't care about the street aspect of the P250, go for the P320. It's a great gun and I really can't tell you which one you should buy. Just understand what both guns offer and make an informed decision based on that.

Nice, I appreciate the insight and info. Just suck that the only affordable full "steel" sigs are the west German ones. They are cool when it comes to the history but I just can't see spending 1200 on a p226

If you have a 'thing for sig' a p250 is definitely not what you're looking for. It's not a bad gun, but like this anon said
