Is depleted uranium rounds is most powerful round ever created? How did people made it without get radioactive dust everywhere?

can you buy it somehow?
>>
>>34703477
DU and natural U would have very similar radioactive profiles with the DU being slightly less radioactive.

But it has the nice property of being dense and self sharpening.
>>
>>34703477
seen more SLAP-T then DU

Get your ass to summer school and don't come back until you can conjugate a verb.

>can you buy it somehow?
If you ever actually come across a way to buy DU as a civvie, try it and post results.

he must go the rifling in place

>How did people made it without get radioactive dust everywhere?
It does. That's why there was so much shit from desert storm. Infantry would go inspect tanks after getting strafed by an A-10 with DU rounds and the shit was all over the tanks/air and they'd breathe it in.
>>
>>34703477

the radioactivity from DU is not dangerous unless you ingest or breath in the dust. The chemical toxicity is arguably much more dangerous
>>
>>34703477
the radioactivity isnt bad at all. Breathing in uranium dust however, is.
>>
So as long as you have a gas mask you'll be fine?
>>
>>34705776
>chemical toxicity
This. It's about as poisonous as lead or mercury, but unlike lead or mercury, it's pyrophoric, so it burns and turns into extremely fine airborne particles and dust that gets everywhere and is easily stirred up.

Yes, it's minutely radioactive compared to sand, but that radioactivity is comparable to coal dust and is not a principle health threat of DU; even if you eat it, the toxicity is more dangerous.

nice try isis, there's only one way to obtain it

1: Its no more radioactive than the average granite slab in your moms kitchen. You will get more rem's in you by inserting a banana up your anus

2: its highly carcinogenic, as is most heavy metals. When ammunition hits anything, tiny particles will form which can be inhaled and form, among other things, lung cancer.

3: reasons for its usage, instead of tungsten for example, is that a) the US(and russia for that matter) has a shit-ton laying around as a by-product of nuclear fuel for reactors, b) its nasty behind-armor qualities such as being pyrophoric, c) being self-sharpening, ie that if it shears it will form a new sharp tip, aiding penetration, and d) its fucking heavy as fuck, making it ideal for retaining kinetic energy over distance
>>
>>34705827
its basically a slightly more dense (more better) tungsten projectile.
>>
>>34705875
And it pisses of hippies, which makes it even better
>>
>>34705818
they weren't stolen, ignorant. stay off 4chan
>>
>>34705875
>its basically a slightly more dense (more better) tungsten projectile.
Tungsten is neither shear sharpened nor pyrophoric. The penetration difference is bigger than the 5% increase in density would suggest, and it's far more likely to brew up a tank on a pen that doesn't hit engine or ammo storage.

But is there anything way to buy depleted uranium rounds?

How many rems would I get by sticking a DU rod up my ass?
>>
>>34703477
It's depleted, there's no radioactivity left.

ITT dumbasses.
>>
>>34706656
DU is still radioactive. Just less so compares with non-D U. Being depleted just means there is less U235 compared with natural uranium than normal.

And, no, I don't think you can buy it normally. Especially not in the formed of ammunition.
>>
>>34706862
Also, U235 is not the only radioactive isotope of uranium. Infact, all uranium isotopes are radioactive.
>>
>>34706656
U-238 is a low activity alpha emitter. Don't eat, inhale, or inject it it.
>>
>>34705805
Since the consensus is that the biggest danger is breathing in dust, it follows that a respirator with basic particulate filters would be sufficient.
>>
>>34705734
I wonder how bad the VA is fucking the vets after this one...

You just watched that Jackie Chan(or was it Jet Lee?) movie didn't you?
>>
>>34703477
those rounds are aesthetic as fuck
>>
>>34705885
I'm no bleeding heart ecologist, but DU can seriously fuck up a water supply- not ideal if you want to invade.
>>
>>34703477
DU isn't really radioactive, it's just toxic as it's heavy metal.

The whole DU conspiracy comes from the fact that Abrams has DU in the armour composite and when it was penetrated by HEAT warhead here and there vaporized, toxic uranium had contact with the crew. This is also why those tanks were later cleaned by guys wearing hazmat suits and market with warning sign(you can find photos of all of this).

>>
>>34703477
>How did people made it without get radioactive dust everywhere
By depleting it?
It's in the name. DU isn't radioactive because it's been depleted of radioactive (aka useful) material.
>>
>>34710639
It would be extremely painful.
>>
>>34710729
DU.

Toxic pyrophoric armour package sounds unpleasant

You can legally obtain depleted uranium but use as a projectile horribly violates the license and then some nerd in a hazmat suit violates your dog with a projectile.

Daily reminder the depleted uranium in the anti-tank rounds did not cause the gulf war syndrome. It was gene therapy to make them all special forces
