I fail to see how that's difficult to follow. Short of an urgent defensive scenario, you should always plan your shot so you're firing into an earth backstop. If you're hunting, or recreationally shooting, there's no reason not to have a clear shot of your target, with a view of what's behind it.

If you don't plan out your shot while hunting, you're reckless. If you don't while plinking you're lazy, and reckless. Either case you can't be trusted with firearms.
